OILERS GET FIRST OVERALL PICK FOR SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR

The Edmonton Oilers will pick first overall in the NHL draft for a second straight year. The New Jersey Devils won the draft lottery Tuesday but teams aren’t allowed to move up more than four spots, leaving Edmonton with the first overall pick.
The Devils will pick fourth, the New York Islanders fifth and the Ottawa Senators were bumped down to the sixth spot, with Colorado and Florida falling in order at second and third, respectively. After finishing its season in 30th place, Edmonton held the highest odds of getting the No. 1 pick at 48.2 per cent. “Winning this first overall pick is an important moment for the organization and it’s an integral part of the process moving forward,” said Oilers GM Steve Tambellini.http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=361995

Yeah it's not great but I give Button some credit. The guys a past scout and GM, so he has some insight into the way a GM thinks. Granted the Huberdeau pick is just downright stupid.

I saw one mock where the Leafs pickd Rocc Grimaldi with a pick because he was a "Burke type grinder". The guys friggin 5 foot 6, 160 pounds and doesn't even have a PIM a game.

Haha. There's a few picks that make absolutely no sense here. Huberdeau is one (like the Avs need another center), but how does Murphy go ahead of Larsson? He's probably not even going to go ahead of Hamilton. Speaking of Hamilton, 5th defenceman taken? Yikes. Puempel came out of nowhere too. He's alright but shouldn't be going that high. The Islanders picking a C would be random too.

Yeah some picks were out of nowhere. Puempel was a former top 10 that fell due to a hip injury. A lesser version of the Brett Connoly situation. But yeah he came out of nowhere lol.
