Ortmeyer Out Indefinitely
WFAN660 in New York and NewYorkRangers.com are reporting that Rangers RW Jed Ortmeyer is out indefinitely after being diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism.The 27 year old forward was the Rangers leading shot blocker among forwards and had recently re-signed with the club.
WebMd describes pulmonary embolism as: “the sudden blockage of an artery in the lung. Once the artery is blocked, usually by one or more blood clots, oxygen levels in the blood drop, and blood pressure in the lungs rises.
Pulmonary embolism caused by large clots can cause sudden death, usually within 30 minutes of when symptoms begin. Smaller clots may cause permanent damage to the heart and lungs.”
