Ottawa looking to make some moves

OTTAWA SUN and OTTAWA CITIZEN are both reporting on the efforts of Senators GM Bryan Murray to land affordable UFA depth, re-sign Ray Emery and trade Martin Gerber.

Ken Warren of the Citizen reports Murray’s “kicked the tires” on a few players (he’s believed seeking a veteran scoring forward) but has found the asking prices more expensive than he’s currently willing to pay. Warren also suggests that the Senators would have to accept an overpaid player in return for moving Gerber, Joe Corvo or Peter Schaefer. The Sun’s Bruce Garrioch suggests one option to clear Gerber’s salary would be demoting him to the minors.
