Ottawa Senators could have interest in Pierre-Marc Bouchard

Bryan Murray decided not to head to California to see if he could swing a deal at the NHL’s board of governors meetings.

But if the Senators GM is looking for a top six forward that might be able to play on the right side of centre Jason Spezza there is one available on waivers to be claimed before noon Tuesday.

Trying to make room to call up winger Ryan Strome, the Islanders placed winger Pierre-Marc Bouchard on waivers at noon Monday in hopes they’ll be able to get his $2 million salary of the books. The Senators will consider a claim.

Bouchard, 29, who has four goals and five assists in 27 games with the Islanders this season, could be sent to the club’s AHL affliate in Bridgeport but it’s more likely GM Garth Snow will try to trade Bouchard if he clears.
