MP's HTR Fantasy Hockey Pool Guide

I like the previous Top 50 Fantasy Player, this is more like a guide with deeper advices. I will list the players of each field, and I will tell you who could be the surprising players:

European Invasion

In the constant battle to gain an upper edge on their opposition, NHl teams have drstically expanded their scouting into previously untapped areas. More and more europeans are being drafted than ever before, and a significant number of those “prospects” are well into their 20’s.

Puck Sight (Sept 25)

8 Days. 8 more days and the new season will be underway. Camps rosters are being trimmed down this week, the waiver draft goes on Friday, each team has three or four more fun games, and then… it’s “Game On!”

Clarifying the Waiver Draft

The following are the rules of the NHL waiver draft which may shed some light on the plight of a few teams, especially when it comes to goaltending.

Best of the Best-Part 1

This is a series of posts, one each day for the next 5 days, discussing the top ten players at each position (C,RW,LW,D, and G). Granted this is only an opinion column, but I have spoken with many different people and came up with the rankings for each position. Feel free to give any feedback.

Osgone?

Osgood Out of Detroit

In just over 24 hours, if they haven’t already, the Detroit Red Wings will say good-bye to netminder Chris Osgood. At 2:00 ET (correct me if I’m wrong) all teams in the NHL will have to submit their list of proteted players. There is a max of two goalies, and the Wings will keep Hasek and Legace. You can bet that GM Ken Holland is trying his darndest to trade Ozzie before the deadline. If he doesn’t, it is almost a certainty that Ozzie will be picked up in the draft on Friday. But where will Ozzie go? There are still some teams that need a good starting goalie, but don’t necessarily have the right people to trade for him. Regardless, the bottom line is this. Holland NEEDS to trade Osgood, or Detroit will have lost one of their greatest goalies for nothing in return.

Osgood a Castaway?

The most likely destination for displaced starting goaltender Chris Osgood looks to be the New York Islanders.

With Dipietro being so young, and Garth Snow being Garth Snow, the Isles would be doing themselves a favor by picking up a relatively young, solid goaltender.

In return, the Isles could give the Wings a few different things. Defenseman Kenny Jonsson is a possibility. Maybe if the Wings throw in Jesse Wallin or Max Kuznetsov, Roman Hamrlik could be had. Most likely though, Osgood will go to the Island for a draft pick(probably 2nd Round) and a prospect.

Richter's Comeback; Rangers Goaltending Beat the Flyers

I want to start by giving you a small feedback on the Rangers vs. Islanders game which turned out to be a brawl, Lindros involved. Then, how did Richter look on his first hockey game since his injury?

Allison has played his last game as a Bruin

Why does this have to happen to Bruins fans every year? Why did I think this year would be different? He is an article from the Boston Globe.

News

I have a couple of short articles to report. First the San Jose Sharks signed back-up goalie Mikka Kiprusoff to a one-year contract extension. Also Daniel Alfredsson has agreed to a one yr/$3 million contract with the Ottawa Senators. The rumor that Jason Allison was close to signing for 3 yrs./$21-22 million with the Bruins is apparently false, and negotiations continue to go on. And finally espn.com is reporting that Bryan Berard will attempt to make a comeback to the NHL with the New York Rangers.

Bryan Berard's possible comeback

It’s been reported on the FAN590 in Toronto and Sportsnet.ca, that after skating with friends, as well as the US Olympic team camp, that Bryan Berard is contemplating a comeback.

Jason Allison rumor

There is a rumor floating around that Allison is going to sign tomorow for 22.7million over 3 years. Has anyone else heard this? If so where?
