A bit of a surprise to the Pens organization and fans present at the Icoplex, the Pens pratice facility, on Monday.

Edmonton Completes Roster

The final cuts have just been announced and the roster is down to the required 23 players. The final decisions were the toughest and 6 NHL level players were cut, players that would have made the rosters of several teams in the league.

Rumors of Allison and Amonte Continue……..

As expected, the rumors of either (or both) Jason Allison and Tony Amonte to the Rangers continue. Allison, an unsigned restricted free agent has claimed to be unhappy with Boston and wants out bad after an ongoing contract squabble. Amonte has been rumored from everywhere to N.Y. to Detroit to Colorado to Nashville, and it appears (again) he may be on the move.

Bruins roster announced!

A few more days until the new season starts! Teams are beginning to narrow down their rosters. The Flyers have reportedly reduced theirs and now the Boston Bruins have narrowed down the size of their roster.

Pre-season Cup Odds out of Vegas

Here are the odds, out of Vegas, for the 2002 Stanley Cup Championship.

Update on Berard

Berard again played well on Sunday night’s game against the Bruins, finished 3-0 win for New York Rangers. Berard played 22 shifts, about 17:41 minutes of ice time, 4 hits, 2 blocked shots, 1 shot and a +1. Seems as if he will just get better and make a good comeback, a decent one.

These were Sunday night’s Line Ups of the Rangers:

Nedved – Messier – Dvorak

Ciger – Lindros – Fleury

Johansson – York – McCarthy

Heisten – Malhotra – Grosek

Leetch – Berard

Ulanov – Malakhov

Van Impe – Karpa

Bryan Berard's First NHL Game Since Eye-Injury, Will Blackburn Make the Team?

Take a look at how Bryan performed in his first game back, and is the media acting immature about Berard not coming back with the Leafs? Will Sather decide to play Blackburn as back-up? How will Coach Ron Low set the line-ups for the regular season?

Final Roster Taking Shape

The Edmonton Oilers have two more games to play before the new season begins, and yesterday they made another wave of roster cuts. The Oilers go into Cowtown tomorrow with only 29 players left on the preseason team.

Osgood Expects No Interest

Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News reports that Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood, who was left unprotected in the upcoming waiver draft, doubts he’ll be selected by another club. Osgood points to his high salary as the reason why he may still be a Red Wing after the waiver draft.

Caps sign Halpern

The Washington Capitals today signed center Jeff Halpern, a restricted free agent, to a two-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed. The deal also includes a club option for a third year.

Aubin to Canucks

I read on the ESPN.com Canucks messageboard the the deal is almost complete and will be anounced in the next few days. The Canucks would trade a 2nd or 3rd round pick and future considerations to the Penguins for J.S. Aubin.

Osgood Unprotected

Espn reports: DETROIT — The Detroit Red Wings have left goaltender Chris Osgood unprotected for the NHL’s waiver draft after the team was unable to trade him.
