The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that the Blue Jackets and the New York Rangers have been in discussion about a possible trade.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have waived goaltender Marc Denis.
Denis has one win in 10 starts this season with a 4.05 goals against average. He has not played in nine of the last 13 games and was a healthy scratch in three of the last 4, losing his spot to rookie Kari Ramo.
Watching the Habs-Lightning game on RDS, like I always do, I couldn’t help but notice that RDS showed 2 former successful NHL coaches in the stands in Tampa. This got me thinking, could this be the end of the loud-mouthed John Tortorella era in Tampa? This is just pure speculation from myself and I do not know if Tortorella is in fact going to get fired.
Being the 2nd oldest tournament featuring actual Ice Hockey teams instead of Nations(Behind the Stanley Cup Play-Offs of course), the Spengler Cup gets virtually no recognition among hockey fans. This tournament has been around since 1923 and has been dominated by the Czechoslovakians and Soviets before being dominated by Team Canada when they first began participating in 1984. Canada has 10 titles since first entering, the most of any participating team since 1984.
According to Boston.com the Bruins may be looking to deal away star prospect Phil Kessel.
