The Leafs are tied with the Avs for first place overall. They are doing this without four of their best players. Rumors are swirling around this team, and players like Jeff O’Neil, Roman Hamerlik, Janne Ninamma, and Sergi Gonchar are being linked are said to be potential targets for the Leafs. And then there’s the media….
According to RDS.ca, a rumor coming from Ottawa, the Washington Capitals would have reached a deal with Ottawa that would ship Peter Bondra to the Sens…
I noticed too much confusion over this. People mentioning too many names, not getting the trade talks right, and looking too much at one side. So, who do I blame? Well, The Score will never gain my trust, and it certainly deserves to be known as a…….
The Philadelphia Flyers picked up yet another defenceman on Thursday, acquiring Matthias Timander from the New York Islanders for a seventh-round pick in 2004.
Gentlemen, I’ll be brief.
There is an OUTSTANDING article in The Hockey News in which the players of the NHL were asked what they would change about the game.
On 610 WIP this morning they were discussing the Flyers need for a goalie and it was said that “inside sources” in the Flyers organization stated that prior to the Markov deal the Flyers were “very close” to acquiring Kolzig and Gonchar and that Williams was part of that package that fell apart at the last minute.
It seems that Bobby Clarke has started my most favourite time of year. With the trade of Williams for Markov, Clarke has finally began the Gm’s battle for positioning. This year has seemed slower than most and we all know the CBA has been front and centre of all potential deals. No one has been willing to take that step to get GM’s to start wheeling and dealing.
According to many sources, The Score, RDA.Ca, spectorshockey.net and thefourthperiod.com, the Washington Capitals and the New York Rangers are in heavy discussions about a trade that includes Jaromir Jagr. While nothing yet is imminent, reports say the teams are in involved in trade talks. The Rangers coach/Gm/President Glen Sather said yesterday they made some calls regarding a trade yesterday, but mostly referring to defensemen. This gives reason to believe the Rangers are interested in possibly Sergei Gonchar or Brendon Witt.
There’s currently a pile of exciting races happening in the NHL, both at the Conference and Divisional levels. Now, I may be biased as a Habs fan, but I honestly think the race in the NorthEast is outstanding:
