Did anyone catch the Oilers game on Sat vs the Red Wings? I just do not understand what is going on with Oilers, up two-nil after the first and then let in four goals in 5:17. I am not saying that it was any one-persons fault on the four goals, it just boggles the mind when a team with the Oilers’ capability can let leads slip away. It was the same thing in St.Louis where the Oil had total domination for the first 15 minutes of the game, came out 3-2 after the first, slept through the second and tried to comeback in the last 7 minutes of the third.
I just bought a magazine from Barnes & Noble that’s really fascinating reading. The Magazine is called “The Hockey News The Best of Everything in Hockey” And yes you guessed it, it is chock full of great lists involving the NHL. One of those lists involves the greatest players for each of their respective teams. Some are no brainers like Lemieux for the Pens…and some are a little more open to debate. So here’s the best ever according to THN, and my opinions on the selections…
According to espn.com Marian Gaborik has signed a 3 year/ 10M$ deal with the Minnesota Wild. A good sign for Minnesota, since they didn’t have to lose ground and offer 6 million dollars a year or upwards as was reported.
Al Stachan reports in a colomn in the Toronto Sun that the Dallas stars are once again (or still) trying to unload the large contract of Billy Guerin. It is speculated that they have been trying to work out a deal with the Maple Leafs involving Guerin and/or Defenseman Richard Matvichuck
According to the Toronto Sun:
Karel Pilar is working out with the Maple Leafs on their five-game road trip despite being unsigned, according to the Toronto Sun. “One of these days there will be a try (with Pilar),” coach Pat Quinn said. “We still have to sign him. Two years ago we thought he was close to playing on a regular basis. We still have that decision in front of us. He has had medical clearance. What he’s looking to do is build up his physical strength.”
I know I haven’t been the most consistent contributor to this site in recent months, but the witching hour is almost upon us, and my return from the underworld is long past due. It has been, to say the least, an interesting first couple of weeks to this NHL season. Some happenings border on the bizzare, so what better time to discuss than now?
Rumors/speculation/news on the future of extra goaltender Curtis Joseph have been incredibly sparse, leading one to believe that no one is interested in the $16-million man or that something is brewing in Ken Hollands office.

TSN.ca is reporting that holdout Marian Gaborik and the Minnesota Wild are “far apart” in contract talks and “not even close”.
This is coming just days after the rumor that a deal will be struck within 48 hours.
Also, the Wild have signed Pascal Dupuis yesterday to a three year, 2.5 million dollar contract.
The Canucks are reported to be the front-runners to sign unrestricted free-agent Bryan Berard,
While the Leafs are said to be in talks to acquire Bill Guerin and a vetran defenseman….
