Chris Drury yesterday signed a 4 year deal with the Buffalo Sabres. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. http://www.nhl.com/onthefly/news/2003/08/146930.html
Now the Sabres seem to be back on track and back to the playoffs hopefully.
Although did find it odd that anything else that remotely qualifies as news gets posted immediately, and yet this signing of the #1 center desont get anything.
Sport-express.ru, a Russian website with a good reputation, reports that speedy defenseman Oleg Tverdovsky has signed a two-year deal with Russian league team Avangard Omsk. The 27-year old Russian won’t be back in the NHL in the next two years, as the contract has a clause that prevents him from signing with any other team, including NHL teams, for the duration of the contract.
Today, TSN.ca has reported that Red Wings Captain, Steve Yzerman has finally signed the one year deal worth 6 million dollars.
It looks like the Toronto Maple Leafs have finally found their man to replace Pat Quinn as the club’s GM.
The Montreal Canadiens have announced the re-signing of Andrei Markov to a two-year contract. General Manager Bob Gainey did not disclose the salary figures of the contract.
The Vancouver Canucks have obtained goaltender Johan Hedberg from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2nd round pick in the 2004 NHL draft. Now the Nucks have a good goaltending tandem in net. A great trade here for both sides.
What can I say about the Penguins that hasn’t already been said.
Well first off that maybe they won’t finish in last place next season, yeah I think I’ll say that for starters. How about maybe they are better off having traded Alexei Kovalev and his 7 million dollar a year demands to the Bermuda triangle of hockey known as Broadway. Or that maybe Eddie Olczyk will make a damn good coach. Yeah, I think that I’ll make all those bold statements, and probably some more as we go along.
Welcome to the class that I’m sure many of you never cared to take: Penguins 101
It’s time yet again, for the seris of “Holes That Need Filling” articles. The atlantic is up.
