PANIC BUTTON

In this very young season, there are already alot of fans that are using their “jump to conclusions” mat a little too soon. No where is this more prevalent than the eastern conference.

Item 1 There is no goaltending contraversy……

Canadiens and Senators fans….relax. It really doesnt matter who they start in net for you. Do you really care if it’s Huet or Abby, or if its Emery or Gerber? These guys weren’t signed to HUGE contracts, but i can understand the want for them to perform. Give them a break. Huet has tremendous pressure on him, now that everyone wants him to be the next Roy, and Gerber is playing in front of brand new team. Let them adjust to their surrounding, and even if they don’t you have two very competent goalies who can carry the load.

Item 2 Rookies are rookies for a reason……

Everyone needs to stop putting the bar so high for rookies. Not everyone is a Crosby or ovechkin. In Boston and Pittsburg needs to ease off Kessel and Malkin. Malkin being injured hasn’t had the chance to show what he can do, but don’t panic if he comes in and isn’t the second coming of Christ. Its very apparent Phil Kessel needs to adjust to the NHL, but you can see what all the hype is about. Give them time to develop and they can become the players you want them to be…..

Item 3 Its not that dark in the basement……

Its been like 4 games! So what if your team is struggling, who cares? Islanders and Bruins fans your team had a major overhaul take place, both on your team and in the front office. There is no need to be demanding your team makes moves. Boston thought last year if you trade away the MVP everything would fix itself. I was there. It didn’t.

Item 4 Don’t dust off the trophy shelf just yet

There is no need to brag if your team is in first place. There are a few teams that were expected to be impressive (buffalo) and maybe not (Atlanta). Your teams are off to great starts. But that’s what it is a start. I have seen plenty of teams finish first in the standings, but end up on the golf course after the first round. There are no guarantees. Be proud, but don’t boast until the cup is in your hands.

Now sound off below on why there is no need to panic for your favorite team, eastern conference or western conference
