''Pavel Bure on the comeback trail'' ???????

Reports out of Moscow, Russia says that 35 year old Pavel Bure has had successful knee surgery and is feeling healthy enough to make a comeback to the NHL. Bure has been working with a conditioning coach for the past 6 months and the timetable for his return could be as early as December. There are several confirmed reports that a number of NHL clubs have shown interest in the Russian Rocket.

Among the teams vying to allure Bure include the Washington Capitals, Florida Panthers, and the Chicago Blackhawks. Contract negotiations are in the works, and reports are saying that the deal is worth approximately $3.6 million over 2 years. Capitals’ superstar Alexander Ovechkin has reportedly said that it would be an honour to play alongside the best Russian to ever hit the ice. Pavel Bure last laced up the skates in the 2002-2003 NHL campaign where he compiled 19 goals and 30 points in 39 games. More to follow.

They also say that he enjoyed Canada better than the US and will sign with the Leafs if they are still in the playoff race!

Really a doubtful action from Bure if he does intend to get out of retirement. He should continue looking for a nice girl like Kournikova and stay healthy doing higher-ups jobs. He was a good sniper.

Im quite aware ovechkin had 51 assists, too bad over half of them are just Zubrus, or Halpern banging it in after a rebound, that is not a pass and doesnt represent him being an excellent passer. As for the Crosby comment im not even going to go there, He didnt play a minute with LeClair all year and how about you explain why when Recchi left his line crosby’s numbers soared? right right Hilbert and Armstrong future hall fo famers, But i dont know why im explaining this talking to a leaf fan ius like talking to a mail box.

Who doesn’t want to sign with the Leafs according to the media? good christ…

That was hilarious. “Leafs” and “Playoff Race” used in the same sentence, thats the funniest thing i’ve heard in awhile.

I had a discussion about this roughly two weeks ago in a mere musing of speculation; thinking he could again be dominant in a game that is more suited to his style of play, where he can be protected by players and REFs, and not get beat up by the likes of philly et al.

If he makes the comeback, I don’t see him playing a whole season ever again. But playing 60 – 70 games at rougly a point a game pace is possible.

The Caps would be huge to get him and make the National Russion team even better. It would look like a mid 90s Detroit.

He hates Canada. If you can remember he demanded a trade out of Vancouver.

more like “Oveckin feeds it to Backstrom, Backstrom gets the pass to Bure, Bure skates, he shoots, he falls!! Injury to Pavel Bure”

  15. hab_o_holic says:

kinda reminds me of when Gordie Howe came back at like 50 years old to play one shirt for I forget which team

I’m with you my friend. Would love to see Bure back with the Canucks! Would love to throw my old Bure jersey back on (if it still fits, heheh)
