Don’t get me wrong, Madden knows his stuff, but even if bringing in a top forward to play with Sid is in the future, why would it happen now when Staal’s value is down and they would pick up more of Kovalchuk’s contract (when we’re already going to be playoff bound at this pace without him)? If another Hossa-esque trade were to occur, it will be at the deadline. If Staal is part of that package, they will at least give him this year and time to pad his stats, most likely with maximum PP ice time (stats very poor thus far) so his stock would go up, much like with superstar 5.1 Million a year Ryan Malone (who appears useless without Malkin/Sykora). I doubt they will give up any more draft picks after the Hossa deal but most likely one of our offensive defenseman will go with Staal since the Pens have an abundance of these when Gonchar and Whitney return.
Like somone said above, its the Beaver County Times people!]]>
