Penguins working hard to sign Hossa

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette is reporting that Marian Hossa is one of the big targets of the Penguins.

Despite the fact that Hossa recently turned down a 7 million dollar deal from the Penguins it is believed that the Penguins have been working very hard in order to ink the star player to a new deal.

In other free agent news that is found in this article it appears that George Laraque will start to entertain offers due to the fact that he has not been able to come to an agreement with Penguins.

What's the problem, can't stay under the salary cap?  No problemo!!!  Just pay Hossa $5M a season "officially" but slip him a secret $5M under the table.

The mafia does this all the time, ie, money laundering scams.  You think the mob gives receipts and pays income taxes?  Ha, think again.

Remember Tampa Bay and their big 3? Ok, the cap went up, but decent supporting players want decent salaries too.

    I've wondered about this too.

Let's hypothesize that such a thing were to happen AND that it was found out… what would happen to the team, GM/owners, and player?
