Potential Powerhouse?

Now we all know how good of a franchise the Detroit Red Wings have been over the past decade or more, always putting a competitive team on the ice and we all know how good of a team they are this year, simply tearing up the western conference.

Now they obviously have some skilled players in Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Holmstrom, etc. but they succeed in the west simply because they mesh perfectly together, they are what you’d call the perfect team I guess, and sure some people would already call them a powerhouse of a team. So how might they get better…

Well as of late there have been some major rumors arising that Detroit is running away with the Forsberg sweepstakes, and if he comes back the Red Wings are the most likely destination (apparantaly Colorado and Philly are still in the race). With the addition of Forsberg you would have to call Detroit the cup favorites and some people would call them a powerhouse, but wait there is more…

With the apparant free-falling of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the growing likely-hood that they will miss the playoffs again this season :'( people are beginning to accept the fact that Sundin very well may waive his NMC to go have a REAL chance at winning a cup before he retires, and he deserves that, and guess who the likely candidate for Sundin is according to most reported rumors…yes you guessed it, it is the Detroit Red Wings.

If these two moves take place then anyone who would not call the Red Wings cup favorites would have to be out of their mind, adding two outstanding players to an already amazing hockey team would be simply too much too handle for most opponents, and a lot to handle for the rest, and yes Detroit would officially be a powerhouse.
