Weber for JVR, Couturier and a 1st. Very interesting offer but I doubt Philadelphia would pay that much. If I were PHI, I would offer:

    2012 1st
    2012 2nd

    Or something like that.

  2. LeafsNation4Ever says:

I don't think Nashville would take it, but you never know.

  3. reinjosh says:

I don't know. They might. JVR has some top line potential and they desperately need that, Hartnell has nice 30 goal, 30 assist potential and will usually get you 20 goals, 20 assists and adds a nice big body for the Preds. Plus a 1st and 2nd. It's not a terrible offer.

  4. reinjosh says:

That's interesting but if I'm Nashville I might almost make the trade a no go without Couturier or Schenn and JVR. It's f*cking Weber were talking about here. He can replace Pronger long term and provide the kind of Stanley Cup stability teams need. He's one of the biggest impact players in teh league. He very well could be a top 10 player in the league. He's that good.

Weber is an RFA so Nashville holds most of the cards here. Teams will come for him and it should be a bidding war. I almost think you have to ask for the moon here. That type of player almost never hits the market.
Think of what Philly paid for a 35 year old Pronger. Two firsts, a top prospect, and a young top 6 forward (this was before Lupul got injured and still had loads of potential). Think that and increase it I think.

    2nd (2013) conditional
    Overpaying ftw?
  6. dumbassdoorman says:

I know it seems like a good offer but especially with one full year to sign him, it no where near enough. i know josh said Weber might be a top ten type player in the league, I say he is possibley top three, four at worst. He is the BEST dman in the league and in a a career plus play on a team known for lack of scoring. This while playing big minutes against the leagues best players. If Phi wants to aquire him think BIG and I mean BIG, there will be a bidding war if he hits the market.

  7. reinjosh says:

Haha that might be too much.

  8. reinjosh says:

He's a beast and really your not selling him to short. He's worth a lot and he has the potential to be the most physically dominating dman in the league. See what Chara did for Boston? He can do that. See what Pronger did for Edmonton, Anaheim, Philly? He can do that. He is simply worth a lot.

  9. thisgamewelose says:

I have fantasies of him on the Rangers. 🙁  He's amazing.

As great as he is, I think Nashville can really benefit from this trade, almost an instant rebuild with what they can receive.

  10. dumbassdoorman says:

Funny part of that is Nashville does not need to rebuild. However you are right they could benefit greatly from a trade or Weber. They would have to make sure Suter is locked up first though, IMO. Their amazing ability to draft quality dmen makes this possible…..stacked is not the word for the backend there. Question becomes not who is interested, more of who has a the G.M. with the balls to actually pull the trigger on what it would take to get him.

  11. reinjosh says:

I agree and I'm a pretty big Nashville fan. I love Weber and I would love the Preds to keep him but it might be more pertinent to move him. Or Suter, but not both.

What would you trade for him?
  12. dumbassdoorman says:

You mean as a Leaf fan or from an interested team? I am not sure the Leafs have exactly what it would take to get it done…..but we do have a GM with the balls to do it….lol.

    Tor: Weber

    Nash:Colborne, Kulemin, Schenn, 1st 2012, 3rd 2012, 1st 2013, 2nd 2013

whhcih is a boatload for us, but I don't think would get it done.

  13. LeafsNation4Ever says:

Take out Talbot and Read, put in Simmonds then >_>

  14. reinjosh says:

Even then that's still 4 of their top 9. That's a big price to pay. I don't think Nashville would turn down either lol, but I don't think Philly would offer that much. JVR and Couturier/Schenn is a good starting point. Maybe put in Gustafsson, and two firsts and the deal is done.

  15. reinjosh says:

I meant from the Rangers point of view. Going after Weber is sort of pointless. He'd be great to get but he doesn't solve any of the needs we have and just adds to a backlog on the defense. Sure getting him and Phaneuf would be incredibly but it doesn't really make any sense.

I would not be for going after Weber in any way. As much as I love the guy. We're not in the position to do that.
  16. dumbassdoorman says:

    From the Rangers eh….hmmmmm

Nash-Dubinsky, Anisimov/Stepan, DeZotto and a 1st might get it done….problem is Nash would want Staal

  17. thisgamewelose says:

From the Rangers, I wouldn't know where to even begin. I don't think we really have the pieces to give Nashville without completely killing our team.

Nashville would definitely want Staal, and I'd be ok with that, but it would take a lot more than staal.
Weber can get his shots through and that's what the Rangers really need on Defense right now, somebody not afraid to take quick point shots.  With the rest of the D stepping up, Staal can definitely be traded for Weber, but It would probably take more than a first round pick, Dubinsky, Staal, and a Chris Kreider.
We can't give up Staal and Del Zotto, and we can't really part with Stepan, Dubinsky, and a 3rd roster player..especially when we might not even get him signed.
  18. reinjosh says:

Well I figure if your getting Weber, it makes the loss of Staal less of an impact. Personally I'd prefer Girardi but that's just me as a fan. Either or though I'd be fine with.

I would imagine any deal with Weber almost has to be done with a signing before hand. Any team willing to give up what it will take will want that. It helps that he's an RFA still.
Would you do Staal/Girardi, Dubinsky/Stepan, 1st rounder, Kreider/Miller? That's a pretty damn good offer in my opinion.
Girardi or Staal helps to replace Weber and the physicality that the Preds lose with him. They have a big need for an impact forward and both Stepan and Dubinsky fir that. Dubinsky is more of a typical Preds player, but Stepan would have a better offensive upside for the Preds to work with. A 1st is a 1st and the prospect like Kreider or Miller would be a big help to the offensive need.
I figure with Richards, Stepan is less needed now. Staal/Girardi is replaced by Weber and the first, Miller/Kreider is what it takes to get a player like Weber.
Adding Weber to New York would make them scary…
  19. thisgamewelose says:

I would do 1st pick, Staal, Dubinsky, and Jt Miller.  Personally, I'd rather not give up Kreider unless it's a must to get the deal done. Dubinsky has been great for us defensively, but I don't think he's ever going to reach his Offense potential with us. Stepan is a player I'm really big on, and I'd prefer to give him over Dubinsky.

Staal, Stepan, Kreider and a 1st…. I may have a hard time with that deal, and adding Girardi over staal would make my heart sink.  I definitely agree that Girardi doesn't get the credit he deserves and would hope he gets passed on on the deal based on staal's name.
  20. thisgamewelose says:

Sorry, that was supposed to read " I prefer to keep him over dubinsky"

  21. reinjosh says:

    I figured haha.

I figure that Staal/Girardi is a given. I don't think it would be too big a deal for Staal over Girardi (and I might think the Preds disagree with me).
I would think the prospect would depend on the forward coming back. JT Miller if the Preds are getting Stepan, or Kreider if Dubinsky. They need a player with some high offensive upside, pretty badly. That's the way it would be for me anyways.
However none of those choices is really a dealbreaker. Getting Staal, Dubinsky, Miller and a 1st would be enough in my opinion. Two 1st rounders, a top 6 forward, and a top 4 dman with top 2 potential? Yeah I'm cool with that haha.
  22. hockey_lover says:

    Just for fun …. 😛

    Pit:  Weber

Nashville:  Staal, Martin, Tangradi, 1st in 2013, 2nd in 2012

The 1st is next year ONLY because the draft is in Pittsburgh this year. Gotta keep your 1st rounder on "home ice."

Staal has good offensive upside, which is something Nashville needs.

Martin is a good dman (yes, he is struggling this year but we all know how good he is).

Tangradi needs a place where he can grow and get good minutes. He is only getting 9 min a game here. To truly thrive, he'll need 14 min a game.

Think that could get it done?

Not that the Pens could afford him. Just playing around at the possibility.

  23. reinjosh says:

If the Rangers are offering what welosthisgame is offering, you offer just isn't enough.

I'm not really a huge fan. I'm not a fan of Tangradi to be honest and Martin while decent isn't exactly the type of dman I'd want replacing Weber.

Staal is the crux of the deal and I'm sure he would coveted by Predators. Something around him would be a good start (especially since he would be a good fit in Nashville) but I'm not sure the rest is enough.

It's not a bad offer but I think the Predators could get better to be honest
  24. hockey_lover says:

    Yeah fair enough.

Again, I was just playing around. The Pens certainly are not in the market for another $7mil+ player hahah

  25. dumbassdoorman says:

Take out Tanger and add in Despres, it would gain further thought, you may also need to replace Martin with a different player. Who is to say with there depth on quality dmen, they would even want one back for sure?

  26. reinjosh says:

Well personally I'd want some physicality coming back to replace Weber's. Losing Weber is a huge loss to that defense. That's why a deal involving Girardi/Staal would be of huge interest to me, were I Poile.

  27. reinjosh says:
To NYR – Weber, contract dump (to keep Nashville under the 50 limit)
    To Nashville – Staal/Girardi (don't care which), Dubinsky/Stepan, Kreider/Miller, 1st 2012 (Fedetenko/Wolski for salary purposes)
Hopefully Suter sees the moves Poile made and resigns. Use the two picks to possibly move up into top 10 territory and grab a guy like Gaunce or Galchenyuk.
If Suter won't stay, trade him at the deadline, maybe to Philly for JVR, Couturier, 1st 2012. Then see if you can pry Green from Washington (he might be done there and they might want to move on with Carlson, Orlov upcoming and Wideman playing damn well). If you can get him for cheap, do it.
  28. dumbassdoorman says:

Suter won't get that much without a extention in place first IMO.

  29. hockey_lover says:

Hey .. jerkface … wanna stop trading all these ridiculous star players to the same division as the Pens? lololol

  30. reinjosh says:

Haha completely unintentional but why not? Load one division with three killer teams and they take each other out 😛

    Its called calculated manoeuvring hehe
  31. reinjosh says:

Probably true but you never know. Kaberle getting a 1st and blue chipper plus a conditional and Burns getting a top 6er, 1st, top prospect have set the market. Suter is better than both. Nashville can ask for a lot and teams will pay I think.

But I'm sure an arrangement can be worked out.
  32. dumbassdoorman says:

    jerkface….wow I feel like I am in grade three….lol

  33. hockey_lover says:

    Doodie face  😛

  34. hockey_lover says:

    Son of a … 😛

I dislike that idea entirely lol
