From The Hockey News, Feb. 3 edition:

"Should labour issues wipe out the entire 2004-05 season, the no. 1 pick in the 2005 draft won't automatically go to the team finishing last this season, according to published reports.

Although a contingency plan is not official, the Toronto Star reports all 30 NHL teams would get a chance to select Sidney Crosby, the undisputed early-line top pick in June 2005. The lottery odds would be skewed towards non-playoff teams."

No, some francophones don't want to play for the Canadiens because of the media. Pierre Turgeon, for one, couldn't handle the pressure. Patrice Brisebois, on the other hand, with all he's been through with the fans and media, is still there. Vinny Damphousse, to my knowledge, didn't have a problem playing there. So that just doesn't wash.

Man I’m impressed. The Preds actually acquired a good forward and might actually make the plaoffs for the first time in franchise history. Good for them. It must suck to be a hawks fan right now, I feel sorry for you guys.

I think this is a sure sign that the hawks are going to start rebuilding again but I would think they could have got more for Sullivan than just two second rounders, didn't he score 40 goals two years ago? Zhamnov will for sure soon be traded and hopefully they get more than picks, maybe some young players in return. We shall have to wait and see.

Well I wouldn't say they have NO tallent in their System, They do have their young stars like Calder, Bell (who is a future Captain), Rutuu, I'll mention Arnason, but I've noticed that he's a bit lazy out on the ice sometimes. Also, I'd keep an eye out for Pavel Vorobiev and Igor Radulov in the near future.. and I was quite impressed With Brent Seabrook in the World Juniors. Also, Mikhail Yakubov is another player that i liked what I saw when he played earlier this season. And as of late Craig Anderson (one of the golies that took over Thibault posision) has shown some skill aswell. And lets not forget Anton Babchuk, who won the Hardest shot competition at the AHL All-Star Game.

I say if they stop trading all there players for Draft Pics and can hold on to Daze, and Thibalt, they might start to come around in the next few seasons...

Is it just me or do the Hawks scouts really blow? They've been finishing in the last few spots for a few years yet don't have much to show for it.

I think the Pens are in a better spot than the Hawks right now since they have better prospects to work with.

I thought of that too...

The best bet so far (from what I heard) would be all the teams in the lottery.

I'm already dreaming of the Habs drafting 1st for Crosby.

I don't know why but I'm sure Colorado would win if all the teams were in the lottery for Crosby...

they traded for Oleg Petrov last year...

Not exactly Sullivan caliber, but it was for a playoff push nonetheless
