Artyukhin is a quicker player with some skill, he gets noticed a ton too.]]>
Boston has been the most sexiest choice for many of late, but me thinks that ship has sailed.
The Sabres, rumoured to be big in the Horton sweepstakes could make a big move for kaberle. i bet they package Drew Stafford. The Leafs may want their 1st plus maybe a prospect like Brayden McNabb or something. Its east, its close to Toronto where kaberle likes, and they're a good team the Sabres with a need for a puck moving defenceman and replacements for Lydman and Tallinder.
People mention the Nucks, but i think the hate between Gillis and Burke/Nonis is too big to make anything happen here.
Another team is the Ducks with Nieds retired. But it wont be Ryan coming back. They'd offer one of their 1sts plus a prospect, and perhaps a contract, like Lupul for Kabby. Poulin, Burke and Nonis all worked for the Ducks so they know some of the kids playing there. It would be the 12th overall they'd be looking at getting. I think though BB wants help now rather than later.
If Dallas didnt have such bad ownership issues, they'd be big players here i think. At issue is that they're west, maybe a place Kaberle doesnt want to settle long term. But, they have some assets, like a Neal, to offer and there is a connection between Kaberle and Nieuwendyk, both very familiar with eachother.
The Kings would be in it too but they cannot move their 1st with the draft in LA.
Funny to hear the Bolts in rumours. Yes they have a need, but what could they give up? I absolutely cannot see them moving the 6th pick in the draft. And i dont think Malone or Meszaros is nowehre near enough for kaberle.
The caps are an option, but i think they need more "harder" players on their roster to support the Ovey's and Semins of the team.
After all they gave up to get Kovalchuk and Arnott, the Devils have zero players of interest to the Leafs unless its Zajac. But cmon, Lou is one of the smartest GMs. Moving Zajac would be a JFJ move.
Someone said the isles. Foolish on them. Just like jersey, the Isles would be another East team that i doubt Kaberle would sign a long term deal with.
Of all the west teams, I can see the Jackets pulling it off the best. They'd do it without moving the 4th overall though. Possibly Filatov and a young dman or something. maybe even a 2nd rounder too. Wouldnt that be neat if that happened and the Leafs, with the Jackets 2nd took Kabanov. there would be no shortage of pure skill there. Problem? Columbus may be one of the last places kaberle would sign an extension. So the Jackets would rightly so offer waaaay less.
The pens are another interested party so the rumours say. They'd put their 1st in play, maybe Tangradi and/or Depres. But does that help Toronto now? not really.
this is going to get really interesting….]]>
