Actually...Malkin has slumped badly of late. Crosby has been so so. Hossa has been so so. Fleury has dominated games of late when the Pens offense has been invisible (like one shot in the first period, or no points from the big line but instead Jarkko Ruutu and Georges Laraque carrying the team!). You have no clue what you are talking about. The Pens are in 1st in the East for a reason, because their defense is 3rd best in the East and their goaltending is phenomenal. You know, the two supposed must haves to win a Cup... oh ya, and then they have their offense to add to all of that.

I wholeheartedly have to disagree.
Teams will seek to exploit and shake the rookie Price.

Luongo looked like shit his last 5 or so games. Like a 5.00GAA or something. We'll let the upcoming birth and then birth of his child slide as an excuse for that though.
Brodeur also saw the Devils have their biggest losing streak in a decade...

Price and Fleury have been playing far superior to both of these in the regular season, and given Luongo's lack of playoff experience and headcase problems, I'd take both over Luongo in a heartbeat. Brodeur however I'd take 1st, as always.

I wholeheartedly have to disagree. The rest of the team IS important in playoff, but the MAJOR element is goaltending. Next come defense, than offense. I think that Gainey truly decided that Price was better. Of course he could be wrong, but given he is not known for rash actions, i suspect he truly evaluated the goalies strenght NOW. I would be much more affraid of Price than Fleury because on many occasions, he dominates the game. Sometimes his inexperience make's him shaky for a game or two, but he has no middle ground, either dominating or shaky. So i think that as far as fear goes, Price is the one that instills it most. Of course Luongo and Brodeur are more terrifying, but not that much i suspect. Price is unknown, which makes him even more terrifying, so to speak. The potential of him being a myth in the making can insinuate itself into the head of his opponent. That's a quality that Fleury definitaly does not have.

Just answer this: Is Fleury on a roll or are Crosby, Malkin and Gonchar on a roll? I thought so. The pens could have a garden gnome in goal and still win games. I don't even bother watching pens games anymore because I know they're going to win just based on their offensive superiority. Now I enjoy heartedly watching habs games because Price literally saves his team from losing every single time. And don't you dare try to shoot down his stats Magnus for God's sake he's a rookie and only 20 years old. Fleury on the other hand shouldn't have even been the #1 pick, but that's okay because he'll have padded stats as long as he plays with Sid the Kid.

Cause I'd rather not meet Brodeur, but if it's on the Devils, I'll take him over MAF or Price anyday.
Same question, I'd rather not face the Penguins than the Habs in a heartbeat! If the goaltenders were switched around on those teams, then perhaps I'd go with the superior Penguins, but I'd be afraid of Price and his subpar stats. Whereas I think the Habs would be far better off with Fleury in net.

As for your first part. Don't forget that Huet was set to become a UFA and Montreal didn't want to lose him for nothing. If they could have kept him and gotten something out of Halak (or Price) they'd have done so.
