Quick rumors: Sundin to waive NTC, Detroit to make huge splash

Mats Sundin may be thinking twice about his refusal to waive his no trade clause with the Maple Leafs, and the Detroit Red Wings might be the team that gives him incentive to do so.Josh Kyrzakos of the Bleacher reports that Sundin may have agreed to consider waiving his no trade clause. Once discussions are completed and the dust has settled, Sundin will have picked his destination to be on a playoff bound team.

Marty York of Metro News Toronto reports that the Detroit Red Wings are very hot for Sundin. And Based on his discussion with NHL insiders, York believes that Sundin will waive his no-trade clause with the Leafs and agree to join the Wings.

It is believed that Detroit will likely make the largest splash of all the NHL teams, with $5 million US remaining in their salary-cap room.

York also believes that Detroit may inquire about Jaromir Jagr, Marian Hossa, Vaclav Prospal or Olli Jokinen.

Other quick rumors

Speaking of Detroit, they probably covet free agent Peter Forsberg, but York says that he’ll likely sign with the Philadelphia Flyers.

The ottawa Senators still hope to land veteran D Rob Blake, in the aftermath of Monday’s key acquisitions of Cory Stillman and Mike Commodore from the Carolina Hurricanes.

However, Colorado and Anaheim have equally strong interest in Blake.

New Jersey hopes to bolster their lineup by obtaining D Brian Campbell from Buffalo, F Ladislav Nagy from the Kings and F Robert Lang from the Chicago Blackhawks.

The New York Islanders are dangling Mike Comrie and Miroslav Satan as trade bait.
