Rangers Ink Pair to Improve Weak Defense

Sather is starting to show activity. He just anounced the signings of Jason Strudwick and Trevor Gillies.

“Gillies, 25, skated in 61 matches with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, tallying two goals and one assist for three points, along with 277 penalty minutes. His 277 penalty minutes ranked first on the team. He also ranked third in the league with 35 major penalties.”

“Strudwick, 28, skated in 54 matches with the Chicago Blackhawks last season, tallying one goal and three assists for four points, along with 73 penalty minutes. His 73 penalty minutes ranked second among team defensemen and he also established a career-high with 14:54 time on ice.”

Well, Hopefully Sather stops now, and sticks to rebuilding. Gillies to me seems a lot like Dale Puritan, who the Rangers don’t need another one of…actually they don’t even need Dale. Could this mean that Demitra is next? I hope not, for the fact that the Rangers have a great chance at Sidney Crosby next year.

With Tom Renney now in complete control of the bench, the Rangers will try and be a trap team. The defense of the Rangers is alright now with the lines looking something like this

Kasparitis Pock

Tyutin Rachunek

Poti Bouchard Strudwick Puritan Nycholat

Goaltending is still not looking too good with

Dunham and LaBarbra, Lundquist and Blackburn in Hartford and Montoya hopefully in college
