Recent Trade Rumors

Bruce Garrioch of the Toronto Sun provides his speculation regarding Mats Sundin, the Canucks, Panthers, Rangers and he also speculates that the Thrashers may be ready to trade both Kovalchuk and Mathieu Schneider.

It is reported that the Thrashers have had serious talks with several teams about the possibility of trading Kovalchuk who will be unrestricted at the closure of next season. Although it is not indicated who the Thrashers may be talking with it is indicated that the package that they may receive for Kovalchuk may be able to help the last place team.

At the bottom of the article it is mentioned that the Thrashers may trade Mathieu Schneider before the March 4th deadline.

Of interest is the speculation that the Ranger may be willing to move either Wade Redden or Michal Rozsival. HTR believes that neither of these players will be moved, they were just signed as free agents … stranger things have happened though and it is noted that Redden has a no trade clause.

Another tid bit at the bottom of the article is that the Panthers may be looking to trade Nathan Horton. If this is true many teams would be very interested in the young player.

Finally, it is once again speculated that the Canucks may be willing to move Mattais Ohlund pending the results of the Mats Sundin situation. HTR believes that Ohlund is not going anywhere, he is a stable d-man for the Canucks who is more likely to sign a contract extension than be traded.
