Honestly JFJ can give this team a dire boost in drafting. I would be interested to see what he would do. Who knows maybe he can redeem himself and prove why he got the job in Toronto.

I understand what you are saying, I guess that is why when Fletcher was told to reaquire Wendel from the Isles that he always referred to it as the Schneider trade…as he was forced by ownership to overpay. I am still not convinced he is a good trader though, both goalie deals tell me that.

While past history might suggest he isn't a great trading GM, I might contest the point saying that may have been more a product of the pressure that was being placed on him by management, media and the fans. He wasn't allowed to take his time, make his moves and play to his strengths.

By no means does that free him from past moves but its more than possible the upper management caused him to make those bad trades. Granted being placed in Columbus might not be all that much better. The pressure from upper management might be just as high.

Listen here there is no reason to JFJ a dipshit…….that is giving him too much credit lol. Though I do agree with josh, sort of. He might be better off in say an Asst GM role where he has more input but not total control. he is not a good trader regardless of big city pressure or not. He is also a weak contract negotiator to say it nicely.

I actually disagree. Believe me when I say this isn't some Leaf bias coming out. I really did not like the guy here and the day he was fired was a good, good day in Toronto.

However, Columbus might be the perfect situation for him. The biggest thing he struggled with was the pressure of a big market. Columbus won't have that for him and it should provide him with good opportunity to redeem himself.

Plus his biggest strength (and the reason he's still employed in the NHL) is his drafting. The guy is surprisingly good at it, and that is something Columbus sort of kind of desperately needs.

I don't think it would be the worst thing it the world. To be honest, he's probably a better option than Howson and at this point any upgrade on Howson is a big plus.

But there certainly has to be better options than JFJ.
