REPORT: KOVALEV TO ATTEND TRAINING CAMP WITH PANTHERS

Alex Kovalev is getting another shot at the National Hockey League.

Miami Herald writer George Richards tweeted Tuesday that the former NHL veteran is in Pompano, Florida with the Panthers and will attend their training camp when it gets under way.

Kovalev, 39, played last season in the KHL with Atlant Mytishchi scoring a goal and five assists in 22 games.

In 18 NHL seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins, Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers, he scored 1,024 points in 1,302 games.

    I bet you Kovalev makes the team as a shootout specialist. He’ll be a healthy scratch some nights, kind of play 4th line minutes, but he’ll be worth it if he scores a few shootout goals.

    Kostitsyn will make the team, but I think Svatos is done.
