REPORT: PREDS TO TRADE RADULOV OR RELEASE HIM BACK TO KHL

nashville

It appears Alexander Radulov‘s days with the Nashville Predators are over.

According to the Nashville Tennessean, Predators general manager David Poile will try to trade the Russian forward’s rights or allow him to return to the Kontinental Hockey League.

“The best way to characterize it is it’s time to not pursue Rad anymore,” Poile told the Tennessean. “If he wants to play in the KHL that’s fine, if he wants to play with another NHL team I’d be willing to trade his rights.

“We feel the fit right now is not with Nashville,” Poile added.

Radulov just completed an eventful season in which he returned to the NHL for the first time since leaving for Russia in 2008. He played 50 games for Ufa in the KHL before returning to Nashville in March and playing nine regular season games for the Predators. He contributed six points in eight playoff games, but was suspended by the team during the second round after he and Andrei Kostitsyn were cited for violating team rules while the team was in Phoenix.

Thinking he ends up on Broadway…

If the Devils lose Parise, I could see Lou taking a flyer on him. Hoping having Kovi around might keep him a little more in line.

It’s certainly an interesting play. Having him be a replacement for Gaborik for a few months, but then when Gabby comes back? That’s a deadly top 6 with Radulov, Gaborik, Richards, Callahan, Kreider

Poile could get a decent amount for him. he’s not a UFA so whoever acquires him has his rights no matter what. It all depends on whether or not he is staying in the NHL or not. no team will trade for him without a deal in place prior.

But it could be a win/win for both the Preds and whatever team acquires him. He’s a talented, talented player.

  3. Yeah, my main concern is what happens when Gabby comes back?

Rads, Richards, Gaborik (Rads would have to play left wing)
    Kreider, Dubinsky/Stepan, Callahan
    Hagelin, Anisimov, Stepan
    Prust Boyle Rupp

Hagelin drops from first line to 3rd. Anisimov/Stepan have to fight for the Center spot. Boyle becomes a 4th line player.(not that I care about him) No room to call up JT Miller (not that he’ll be a definite to make the team) Parise is out. 🙁 I guess you can move Gaborik to second line and Rads to play right wing on first line/ or reversed.

If I’m Sather, I wanna make another push for Nash, then try to sign Parise, then this would maybe be plan C.

I’ve also heard that the Preds would consider packaging Radulov with Lindback for an impact player.
