Brad Richards has chosen to play with the New York Rangers and will agree to a nine-year deal for $60 million.
The L.A. Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning and Calgary Flames were among the teams making pitches to the skilled forward.
Richards had 28 goals and 77 points in 72 games with the Stars last season.
