Rink Wrap: Wild about Parise

The Devils have a decision to make before next month’s NHL trade deadline: Do they deal star winger Zach Parise?

With Parise set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, the Devils are desperately trying to keep their 27-year-old captain from testing the market, but if he’s not signed in the next month, GM Lou Lamoriello may have to consider moving him before Feb. 27.
League sources say Lamoriello has been gauging what Parise could fetch, but he’s in a difficult spot because the Devils are in the thick of a playoff race and it would be tough to trade an impact player for prospects.

If the Devils decide to make a move, the Wild will be at the top of the list trying to land Parise, who is a Minneapolis native.

Should Lamoriello make the move, he’s going to want a top young player, a prospect and a first-round pick in return.

If that’s the case, Wild GM Chuck Fletcher might be wise to wait until the off-season to try and sign Parise as a UFA
