Robitaille On His Way Out???……..To The Leafs!?

HTML:DETROITNEWS.com

Left winger Luc Robitaille was a healthy scratch for Thursday’s game against the Avalanche. And has left the question: Are Lucky Luc’s days in Hockeytown numbered?

Robitaille, 36, last scored a goal 14 games ago, on Dec. 17 against the New York Islanders.

He has four goals and 14 assists in 45 games, on course for the worst season of his career.

“We tried a lot of different things,” Lewis said. “Luc is a goal scorer and it (the puck) hasn’t been going in. At this time, it was necessary for the team that we make a change.”

“He was very disappointed, as any proud professional would be, and he is,” Lewis said. “Nobody wants to not play.”

Lewis said it was the most difficult decision he has had to make this season.

“Definitely,” Lewis said. “For a man of his stature, for what he’s done in this game, to do that (scratch), I thought about it all last night.”

In other news in was reported recently that the Leafs have had discussions with the Wings in regard to the services of Robitaille.

Bill Watters(assistant GM) would not confirm nor deny trade talks with the Wings. Although Robitaille is the LW the Leafs do lack…

This rumor does NOT appear to be false at all, yet it is very serious when you add the economics and value together.

I will keep a very close eye on the situation and I suggest you do the same, as this trade could be completed….

Omg! I sent this in like how long ago?

Now this looks bad for me cause I’ve got 3 articles in a row…

  2. wayne2 says:

I believe the best team suited exactly for Robitaille`s style is the penguins.Imagine Robitaille,Lemieux and Kovalev on the same line.

  3. MapleLeafs says:

If the Leafs can pick up Lucky Luc it would be great cause the Leafs do lack LW and then to get on of the best.

    -MapleLeafs-

    Go Leafs GO

  4. MapleLeafs says:

At seasons end Kovalev mite not even be a penguin.

    Go Leafs Go

  5. frankie says:

Luc has already played for the penguins because they had the same idea years ago but it had’nt work out. Luc then started to play on the bottom lines and it took couple of years before he found back his scoring touch so I don’t think it will happen.

But it is true that it would be fun to see what they could do now, as a montreal canadiens fan, I would also like to see what he could do for the habs altough I’m not saying we need him and his salary

  6. Tony says:

As a Wing fan, I do hope they can trade him. Luc is way too slow and he hasn’t done anything all year. Last year he was only good on the powerplay and he wasn’t even a factor in the playoffs..

  7. saiklo says:

We would only take him if the wings gave him to us for nothing and picked up most of his salary.

If the Pens are going to fish in high priced veterans, they will almost assuredly be defensemen.

  8. wingerxx says:

I don’t think Pat Quinn would be smart to try and land Robitaille, for a lot of different reasons. He’d get more ice time in Toronto…that doesn’t always translate to success. Toronto’s playing quite well. Don’t mess up a good thing. Give some younger players some ice time.

  9. wingerxx says:

Pittsburge tried Robitaille on for size a while back. It didn’t work. It wouldn’t work now. No go.

  10. wingerxx says:

The Leafs need someone with some speed up front. Robitaille has the skill, but not the speed. And preferably someone under the age of 35.

  11. Avalanche114 says:

How about the Rangers? They have a big shortage of left wingers and are known to ship decent players for a “good name” like Robitaille, not that Luc isn’t a proven player, but then again so were Pavel Bure, Bobby Holik and Eric Lindros before they came to the big apple. Who knows, i don’t really care either way..just throwing it out there..

  12. wingerxx says:

i don’t think theres a chance in hell Sather would want Robitaille :)

  13. flyersrule94 says:

Shut the hell up. With your stupid leafs rumors. So what if they do get Robitaille, they will still stink. Robitaille is WASHED UP, HES DONE. Even though i do admit, he will be a great fit in the washed up Leafs lineup. And if anyone feels like saying something like, look at the flyers lineup…. well then think to yourself, how is it that they are in first place………

Hey i also here the leafs are after, Adam Oates, maybe Pat Verbeek, or how about asking Rick Tocchet to come out of retirement?

  14. Johnny_Canuck says:

Robitalle should go back to L.A…. that’s where he’s always played his best hockey.

  15. Robert says:

…i heard these rumors too…but as any rumor involving the leafs…i wont believe till isee….for the right price, robitaile is worth the risk.

  16. Lint07 says:

    Wasn’t funny, dude. Sorry.

  17. Hockey_Fan says:

Shut up. Your a disgrace to all Flyers fans.

  18. Hockey_Fan says:

Look at the bright side. You give us something to complain about.

  19. BabyLeaf says:

I don’t think the Leafs should go after Luc, however if they do not have to give up a whole lot for him, I guess it would be ok.

But they should definitley NOT trade a player like Antropov for him.

  20. sportside24 says:

His good years are behind him, why would any team want him… Trade prospects for more dead weight..

  21. Tradedude says:

either way, your a false article freak.

  22. Tradedude says:

Ok, I’m sure everyone thinks Quinn is no good as Gm and a coach together, i’d say as most other fans would say his GM status has got to go. Why don’t they just hire their assistant Watters, he did a great job to keep Kaberle here, he is the only one that has been doing re-search on players from other teams to maybe bring them to the leafs, i mean, what the hell does quinn do as a GM anyway, ooo, he signs the player in the off-season.

Article might not be false, but I just don’t think there’s a chance in this World to see Robitaille in a leaf uniform.

    o,

before I forget, that article name man, looks you look horrible, it’s just funny b-cuzz reading that article, then all the other articles on superstars going to leafs. sad, funny, and gay.

  23. Tradedude says:

yep, i agree there, younger players should step in, i don’t want n-e more over 30 players

  24. leafsrule31 says:

man, no offence, im on your side most of the time, but what is with you?.. every single time, and i mean EVERY single time, this guy writes an article or posts ANYTHING your on him like a cheap suit. did he run over your favorite puppy as a child or something???.. anything?.. gimme sumthin here

  25. leafsrule31 says:

man.. you SHUT THE HELL UP. your opinion is garbage plain and simple, because every time you have something to say its anti-leaf. just don’t speak. keep your little crap opinion to yourself. and on top of that your never around to back yourself up, because you cant. your crap. nothing but some 13 year old kid with a serious, serious problem. who the hell is washed up on the leafs??? lumme?.. even hes not more washed up than john leclair. you little dickhead, sit back and shut the hell up.

  26. titans says:

NO!!! MY FAVORITE PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE CANNOT I REPEAT CANNOT BECOME A STINKIN LEAF!! BETTER HE RETIRE THAN THAT!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO BIRDS!!

  27. titans says:

Awww did he make you mad Leafsdrool?

  28. Leaf_Expert says:

    What a matter?

    Couldn’t stay Shut Up “fag’tans”

  29. Sands says:

WOW….. if he was a healthy scratch…. you really have to think that there will be a move. He has done nothing for his team….. So you have to think that there could be a move and fast!

  30. flyersrule94 says:

fag tans? haha you corny shit. All you want to talk about is how mature people are and shit, and you go and say something like that hahahahahahah. Hate to tell you dude, but that wasnt funny, you should try again though, ur on the right track. And for the other leaf guy, the leafs are washed up and they do stink, dont get made at me because the leafs stink, and you want to talk about John Leclair? If hes so washed up, how come he was in the top five in goals before he got hurt? I dont think a washed up goal scorer still scores goals? I think you should check up on that one.

  31. calflyers says:

    dare to dream Queef_Boy

  32. Tradedude says:

o nuthin, just cant stand him.

  33. CaptainCanuck says:

Maybe, but who are the Penguins going to give for him? Plus they’ll never afford him.

  34. CaptainCanuck says:

    Ouch!!

  35. Tradedude says:

rick tocchet. wasn’t he washed up so much he retired a while back, and is now an assistant coach, man, it’s sad that your making up players to go on the leafs like previous washed up players such as tocchet and oates who were on the philly flyers, to get washed up.

robitaille will not come to leafs, haven’t u yet realized who posted the dam article?

as for flyers line-up, there defense is so washed up, therien, desjarDONE, and all the other no-name 40 year old geezers.

  36. Tradedude says:

ouch, jealousee really kicked in their didn’t it.

if the leafs stink, proove it, they not only made it 2 rounds ahead of philly last year and kicked their ass every other year including the year where we nailed ur ass out in the 1st round like 4 years ago, but the refs were against us, and we were without major key players because of cheapshots from teams such as new york islanders, and ottawa senators (which only allowed 1 goal in the 5 games they kicked your ass).

leclair is washed up, he gets hurt waaaaaay too much man, he can’t score while he isn’t even playing. u can think about that.

and there are ATLEAST 4 players that have more points than any player in philadelphia including nik antropov.

if ur going to say leafs r washed up, u gotta hav your reasons to back urself up.

learn from expierence, man, get a older brother or someone that has knowlegde on hockey, cause i don’t think little kids will get far in life with no LIFE.

so get a life, flyers may be in 1st in whatever, there division, ur just lucky u have good goalies.

cuzz i feel embaressed to be a philly fan, maybe not in the old dayz where clarke was playing and has a knife as a stick or wutever. but u would never know that stuff…….unless u ask ur grandfather which should be 50 years old since ur so young.

  37. Leaf_Expert says:

Bet you can’t stand a crisp back hand across your face….

  38. leafsrule31 says:

    oh.. well ok just wonderin

  39. leafsrule31 says:

go back to designing you sissy little girl

  40. leafsrule31 says:

do you watch hockey at all? your another typical little dick of a flyer fan.. “leafs suck and there players are washed up.. cuz i said so”. sundins washed up? Mogilny? kaberle, belfour, mccabe, svehla, renberg? i could go on for awhile, but i can see that theres no sense in arguing with a 13 year old kid that thinks its that way because he said so.

leclair is WASHED UP. why dont you take a look back and see who else was in the top 5 for goals in the first 2 weeks. and try telling me primeau isnt washed up, and weinrich, desjardins, ragnarsson, savage, therien, there all washed up. and your unibrow goalie blows.

you wanna think the flyers are better then the leafs cuz you say so. i think the leafs are better then the flyers, and i can back it up. when was the last time philly made it to the second round? philly scored 2 goals in the playoffs last year, then the leafs beat the shit out of the team that did it to ya. the leafs had more points than philly last season, and are 4 points behind em this year. they’ve played 3 times this season. toronto beat the PISS out of em 6-0, 3-0, and lost 2-1. toronto was 2 GAMES away from the cup final, while philly scored 2 playoff GOALS. notice how more and more philly fans are shutting their mouths lately? you got NOTHING, maybe you should consider doing the same.

  41. matrix2003 says:

Luc would be great with Toronto i believe, they could use some veteran leadership, they lost that when Roberts went down, don’t get me wrong Sundin is a great leader, but one that has been to the promised land would help, they don’t have many that have. Four goals in 45 games, looks like he could explode for some goals some, not saying a Mario like explosion but much (much) better goal production. If he finished the season with 20 goals which would be really low for him, even at his age, he would have 16 goals in the remaining 37. that’s a 35 goal pace production, worthy of trading for for sure. I would like to see the Leafs trade for him instead of Kovalev, less to give up.

  42. matrix2003 says:

Isn’t there payroll high enough? They would be dumb enough to do it though. (P.S. – Rangers need a smarter G.M.)

  43. matrix2003 says:

Quinn is a lazy G.M. who will probably sit on his ass and do nothing @ this trade deadline. Kudos to him for trying to be both but it just isn’t working, agree?

  44. matrix2003 says:

So what if they are doing good now, so what if they are higher in the standings then the Leafs. Look at what happened last year in the playoffs, the Leafs went much farther then they did, so quit with that garbage. And what’s this about Robitaille being garbage he’s had a stellar career. He’ll get better as the year goes on, i’m not saying he’ll score 30 goals but 20 is still possible, stranger things have happened, look at the Bruins of this year). And what if the leafs are looking at Oates, he is a future Hall of Famer. Leafs are washed up? Roenick former 50 goaler, now 25 to 30 goaler, LeClair, Recchi, Desjardins, maybe throw in the coaching and managing staff. 4 points seperate them, 2 wins, that’s not that much when think about it.

  45. sanerson_fan says:

I can’t see Robitaille in Toronto, why would the Leafs want another over the hill mutt, isn;t Shayne Corson enough ??.
