Rumor Roundup
With the amount of trades happening in the last 48 hours it appears as though the flood gates have opened, here are some rumors:
Bill Guerin:
It looks like there are five teams who are seriously considering picking up Guerin, they are Montreal, Ottawa, Nashville, and San Jose. Montreal has Guerin as their plan “b” if they cannot get Forsberg. The leader seems to be Carolina.
Edmonton Oilers:
With Calgary making some major moves in the last 24 hours it appears that if Edmonton has any hope of making the playoffs they need to make a move now. They are considering Sanderson, Pitkanen, and Hatcher from Philadelphia. They are also considering Eric Brewer and Aaron Miller.
Toronto Maple Leafs:
Toronto is going after wingers Todd Bertuzzi and Gary Roberts of the Florida panthers, there is a strong possibility they will get both, but the Sens are after Roberts too.
Keith Tkachuk:
It looks like Tkachuk will be going to the Detroit Red Wings this year.
Eric Brewer:
There are many teams going after this young defenseman, they are the Buffalo Sabres, Edmonton Oilers, and Dallas Stars.
Bryan Berard:
It looks like Berard will be a Buffalo Sabre, they have lots of young talent that they can afford to give up. The Lightning may make a strong pitch for him.
Peter Forsberg:
It looks like Philly is demanding at least two first round picks and a young player on a current NHL roster. It looks like Anaheim, Montreal, Vancouver, and Toronto are out of the race because of the asking price. It seems as though Forsberg will either be a Predator, a Red Wing, or a Shark by February 27th. San Jose is the least likely destination.
Ryan Smyth:
It appears as though he will become a Red Wing if the Oilers cannot re-sign him, he is penciled in as the Red Wings plan “b” if they cannot get Tkachuk.
There are more teams interested nut they are not known.
Jason Blake:
He told Islanders GM, Garth Snow, he want a deal or a trade. Only time will tell but teams have been calling in.

That's exactly what I'm saying! We don't need 3 of the best centers in the league. And by the way our cap space is right at the top after taking Malakhov's contract (we don't even have one million). But a line with Marleau-Thornton-Forsberg would be absolutely insane, but again unnecessary.
I doubt Roberts will waive his no trade contract unless he is traded to toronto. And giving away your future on defence for a rental…Its also unlikely.
I heard that the leafs may be close to getting Modin…that is the deal that I can accept. Bertuzzi would never work in Toronto due to cap reasons, but I would love to see Roberts back.
