Sam Gagner is sweet. He busted out as an 18 year old and posted 49 points his rookie year. At ages 19, 20, 21 he was very consistant at 41 or 42 points in each of those seasons.

Now at age 22, he's still approaching his prime, I think he could be a definite 50-70 point scorer for the next 5 years. He's got good vision, great passing ability, great puck skills and a strong skater.

Franson for Gagner. Do it up. Gagner could plug on our 3rd line with Lombardi right now, and be a potential replacement for Connolly when his contract is up in a couple seasons.

uh i'm not sure if you now who bill katz is but he is actually one of the wealthies owners, and i agree with the how you treat your players thing, and that kevin lowe screwed things up, lowes last and best move was bringing in Tambo, but i wouldnt blame the whole management during Lowes reign of terror, just lowe.

True, when you are not a "wealthy" team so to speak and have trouble attractting UFA's, how you treat your players goes a long way.

Yeah the Oilers aren't in a rush to move him but I would be shocked if he was still in an Oilers uniform to start next season. I just hope for his sake he doesn't get strung along like Cogliano.

I think he is a good complimentry piece so to speak. Not the guy that p[ushes you over the top, but a guy that can fit more than one role. If hwe was bigger well they wouldn't wanna get rid of him and they would get more for him if they did, if that makes sense? lol

yea i dont see him in the long term plans either, but right now there is no panic in EDM. i bet he stays with the oilers till close to the deadline, unless he gets a deal he cant refuse. we all know how tambo likes to rape teams at the deadline lol

I agree. He's a decent player but I don't know if he will ever develop into a solid 1st/2nd line center on a good team. He has a really slight frame that I don't think will change significantly and that's going to continue to lead to injury issues. He's never had an injury free season.

He does have some skill but long term he might be better suited to the wing. I just don't see him putting up more than 50 points on a good team.

I would be surprised if he isn't traded by Edmonton as I don't think hes in their long term plans.

Tambo might wait to see what Turris brings in a deal, then he will know where he can value gags, Gagner fetches more than Turris, likely a 3rd round pick more trhan turris. IMO

I am not saying Gagner is a bad player, but I don't think he is all that special. Seems to be a good team guy, from what little I know, but don't see him being an impact player. Be interesting to see what he fetchs, if they trade him at all?
