Flyers interested in Wild Goalie?
It will be interesting to see whether Philadelphia Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren of St. Paul, in need of a goaltender, makes a run at the Wild’s Josh Harding.

Holiday Rumors
LOS ANGELES: The Kings are in the hunt for a playoff spot, but want to move underachieving Russian W Alexander Frolov. The Senators had a chance to acquire him in the summer but didn’t show much interest. Ottawa already has Alexei Kovalev not living up to expectations.
NY RANGERS: New York has been trying to move potential UFA W Chris Higgins, who only has four goals and six assists in 36 games this season. The Rangers don’t have any complaints about his effort, but he’s just not scoring. He is making $2.25 million (all terms US) this season. The club is also trying to move RW Ales Kotalik, who has been a healthy scratch for four straight games.
“All these guys can be had pretty easily,” said a league executive. “But there’s a reason they’re available: They make too much money and aren’t playing well.”
The issue, as always, is salary cap space. The Senators don’t have a lot of money to play with under the $56.7-million cap.

If the Flyers want to salvage watever season they have left they better make a move because they are sitting near the bottom on the East. Granted it is still a tight playoff race. They have won 3 strait so thats definatly a start.
Alot of people have suggested Halak to the Flyers but I think it would cost them way too much. If they try and get Harding it might only cost them their 2nd round pick. Halak would cost a boatload more since he is very hot latly.
To PHI: Jaro Halak, 1st rounder / 2nd round pick, Louis Leblanc / PK Subban
To MTL: Jeff Carter
Cheaper option…
To PHI: Jaro Halak
To MTL: Andreas Nodl, 2nd round pick
OR french Canadian spin…
To PHI: Jaro Halak
To MTL: Simon Gagne
I dont know if its a great idea for Montreal since they have to re-sign Plekanec and the fact that Gagne is currently in a slump so maybe Phily throw a lil extra sumthin sumthin but I thought it might be interesting to send a french Canadian to the Habs..
Is Gagne even on the block? If he is I would hope Boston pursues him.
You would have to assume he is…the Flyers have at least 7 top 6 forwards (Briere, Carter, Richards, Gagne, Hartnell, Giroux, JVR). Plus he makes just over 5 million a season so if they can flip him for help elsewere they might take a look at it.
Phily is looking for a goalie however…do you think Boston would be willing to trade one of Rask or Thomas to the Flyers for Gagne?? Risky business…lol
no way in hell Halak fetches that much. A 2nd rounder at best.
are you on drugs? subban, leblanc 1st r.dpick, halak for carter!
halak alone is worth carter if not maybe sergei kostitsyn and a 2nd!we don't have to trade halak we have the luxury of having 2 #1 GOALIES,WE JUST HAVE TO WAIT and see how desperate phillly is,in this deal we the habs holdall the chips and bargaining power philly is at a postion of weakness and desperation1
Washington should put Ovechkin on waivers just for fun to see what would happen.
hahahahha
The NEW YORK ISLANDERS should unload a package of a few player right NOW to L.A for Frolov!
The Islanders desperately need scoring. If they keep waiting to get the scoring going, they will find themselves out of the playoff race. It probably cannot wait until DiPietro is healthy and they move Biron (for Frolov).
IF they do wait, and they do find themselves still in the playoff race, then Biron for Frolov would be a good straight up deal.
A proven 40 goal scorer has the same value as a career backup? Granted he is hot right now but still…Carter is much more valuable.
If Pascal Leclaire is worth a second and Vermette? What makes you believe that you are getting Carter straight up for Halak? Carter is 10x better then Vermette.
Halak has one hot stretch…Woopy Doo. Doesn't mean he is a number one goaltender
they could throw an offer out there of kevin reagan and adam mcquaid for gagne and see what happens lol
as much as I bug leaf fans about their rediculous trade proposals, this one is right up there buddy. Halak for Carter straight up???? Holmgren would be instantly fired and checked into a psyc, hospital if he pulled that trade.
Halak is worth far more playing for the habs then in a trade. Gainey said it himself. He doesn't expect to get much more than a 2nd for Halak.
Now if you were to say Price for Carter that might be a more interesting scenario. Yes, No?
I don't agree that Carter will go for that little. However you can hardly call Carter a "proven 40 goal scorer" he hit that mark how many times? Once I believe? As for Halak I do not believe he will be a career back up he will be a good starter once he gets his chance.
The Islanders are one of the worst run franchises in the NHL. Have been ever since Torre left. The team is run by Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Actually to be honest, I'd really like the Islanders to make the playoffs, because then alot of the top end junior talent won't have to suffer in NY.
There is no way the bruins flip either goalie. The only way the Bruins trade Thomas is if he is a UFA, and they are ready to turn the reins over to Rask. Wasn't that an amazing trade for the Leafs?
so with the leafs 3 points out of a playoff spot taylor hall is going to either edmonton or carolina
who thinks the washington trade was made so they could go after a top d man at the deadline?
Must correct you on that one it was leclaire and a second round pick for Vermette and although I love Vermette he unfortunately needed a change of scenery which is proven benefitial for him so far and we needed a true number one goalie which I believe Leclaire is when healthy, the 2nd round pick I assume was an insurance policy due to Leclaire being hurt so much.
Frolov as been mentionned for a long time now and I believe it would be good for him to be traded.I dont think he will bring much unless they wait near the playoffs when teams are trying to bulk up.(he's a UFA)
Philadelphia keep struggling with their goalies and either Harding or Halak are good for them without giving away too much.
NYrangers are pretty much stuck with Higgins unless they want to swap with us for Cheechoo *lol*.
Cater from Philadelphia keeps being mentionned as well and he on the other hand could bring back something decent.
Ya i know they wont flip Gagne to the Bruins, very unlikely lol.
That Rask / Raycroft trade stung from the moment it went down man haha and I think everyone here on HTR felt the same way frmo day one. Stupid JFJ.
Hopefully one day Ryan McDonagh becomes the next Bryan Leetch for the Rangers haha.
He is also only 24 and had a 46 goal season. He is still a proven 30 goal scorer np at the least. Scored 29 the year before his 46 goal season and is on pace for about the same this year. So just over 100 goals in 3 seasons?? Thats a pretty safe player and garanteed 1st liner.
Cant say the same for Halak as a proven starter can u? I dont think he will be a career backup eigther but SO FAR thats all he has shown us. I too think that given the chance he can be a starter, but would he be better then Emery? That we dont know. Prolly a lil more consistent then him but still.
I know why couldn't they have traded subban instead. I saw him play a few games with hamilton, and he is *****ing useless.
I doubt Halak will be the same head case that Emery is. As for Carter yes you can say he is on pace for 30 goals, but his shooting percentage is only .080 the best shooters normally have at least .130 I'm sure lots of players can have 14 goals if they took 174 shots on goal.
Ya and he seems to have an ego as well. The Subbanator?? How can u nickname urself lol loser…
I just love his first name, it has a nice ring hahaha…Pernell Karl lmao!
Nah not true at all lol. Take Mr Jason Blake for example who annually hovers near the bottom of the league in shooting percentage and taking at least 200 shots threwout the year haha.
Mike Green, Pavel Datyuk, Paul Kariya, Martin Havlat, Mikko Koivu, Henrick Zetterberg, Dan Boyle….those guys are all in the 7-8% too but are still top notch players and for most ud trade an arm and leg for.
You mean it doesn't stand for Piece of Krap? Lol I have a nickname for him "THE GUARD". Not because he is good it"s cause he plays like a basketball ball guard. He tries to drive up the ice like he is on a fast break and loses the puck. He tries to drive the net and loses the puck. Oh wait how about the "puck losenator" or the "giveawayanator"?
First off, arm and a leg for Paul Kariya Martin Havlat, and Mikko Koivu? Are you serious? Kariya and Havlat are always in the running for longest stay on the IR list. As for Koivu, he really hasn't proven himself to be a consistent threat. Mike Green, and Dan Boyle are defencemen and defencemen generally shoot around 5% so 7%-8% for a defencemen is really good. As for Datyuk and Zetterberg, neither are really pegged as a pure sniper like some people like to label Jeff Carter. Look at the Heatley's and Kovalchuk"s I'm sure their shooting percentage is around 13%. I'm NOT saying that Halak is enough to land Carter, or that first trade withe Halak the pick and prospect would be enough, i"m just saying right now that Carter's value is a lot lower than it was last year. Although is philly wants the Piece of Krap Subbanator, they can have him.
Welcome to Carolina
