Other players that will be used as trade bait include Curtis Brown, Miro Satan (because of his contract and 20-game scoreless streaks), possibly Maxim Afinogenov, and minor leaguers Norm Milley, Jason Dawe (yes, he’s still alive), Chris Taylor, Jason Botterill, and other random slugs. Also, take Tim Connolly, please!

The Devils would be best served going after Witt – he’s the only one who plays a similar style to Stevens. They were never going to score much with Stevens, so why try to get a gun from the point? Gonchar is poor defensively, and does not fit their system. Burns would strangle the life out of him within about four seconds.

Lastly, I hope Gonchar does go to the Leafs. As previously posted, offense is not their problem, and Gonchar is much like Paul Coffey – he blows defensively. But then again, they may need to outscore teams 8-7 to advance through the playoffs. God I hate them!

to Toronto – Gonchar

to Washington – Jay Harrison, Harold Druken, draft pick (2nd round at least, 1st if they have more than one)

Harrison is in his second year in St. John’s, and is about as steady a blueliner as you’ll find in their system. Druken seemingly has matured, both physically and mentally, and has performed pretty well when he was recalled to the big club. If he’s not in the Leafs’ future plans, maybe another team can fit him into theirs. He does have an NHL shot.

The fact that McPhee wants a shit load waayy too much for the OVERRATED, NO-DEFENCE Gonchar is a FUCKING JOKE!!! Lets get serious here… you have trade him cause he makes 3.65-million and is due for more next year, and can’t afford him!!! If I was McPhee, I would be jumping for joy that the leafs were willing to give up ONE of their prospects and a draft pick for Gonchar.

I DON’T THINK THE LEAFS SHOULD GET GONCHAR EVEN IF ITS FOR ONE PROSPECT AND A PICK!!! WHY THE FUCK GET CAUGHT UP IN A NAME, WHEN YOU HAVE HOLES TO FILL!! (I.E. – DEFENSIVELY SOUND DEFENSMEN!!!)

Gonchar is no where near what McPhee is asking, and I hope JFJ makes a trade for a guy like Smith or Carney (hopefully both) and solidify our defense… think how solid that is.

What worries me more is that Aki Berg plays well with Klee…if we trade for Gonchar, then Aki may suck again, so I think we should make him part of any trade (if we can).

Also, the talk about getting Gonchar is ridiculous! There is no way in hell i would give up Coaliacovo, Stajan AND a pick, or Coaliacovo, Antropov, a pick and someone else. Those rumours had better be BS b/c that is asking WAY too much. Then I hear that they want PArise from NJ to make the trade. Fuck you McPhee. Washington might fuck themselves and have no one left to trade with if they continue to make ludicrous demands. Those types of players, prospects would fetch WAY more then Gonchar.

If, on the other hand Witt, Gonchar and Kolzig could be had for Kaberle, Antropov, a pick and a prospect not named Stajan or Coaliacovo, then I would pull the trigger. Gonchar is very good, but he will be gone next year one way or the other and with his big contract (and the need to sign a bigger one) and lack of a dominant defensive game he is not worth the sky AND the moon!
