Rumors from the Toronto Sun

The Toronto Sun is reporting several big trade rumors that involve Keith Tkachuk, Mathieu Schneider and Maxim Afinogenov.

It is reported that Keith Tkachuk is listed as prime trade bait prior to the March 4th trade deadline. The Blues are well out of the playoff drive and Tkachuk would be a welcome addition to a number of teams that are looking to improve their depth for a playoff drive. The article speculates that ideally Tkachuk would go to the Bruins however it is noted that the Bruins do not have much cap space left to acquire players that have a heavy salary.

It is also reported that the Thrashers and Sabres have been in discussions regarding a deal that would see Mathieu Schneider go to the Sabres for Maxim Afinogenov. Apparently the Sabres are finding it difficult to find takers for Afinogenov and his 3.5 million dollar salary.

It is also noted that the Islanders are listening to offers for both Guerin and Weight.

Note, there is also a great deal of talk about Lecavailer but HTR decided to spare you the update as it has been well covered to this point.

this would make a very awkward core of forwards in atlanta. but i think from a pure business look it makes sense. players like maxim and ilya will sell tickets and jerseys

  2. KingCanada says:

Tkatchuk must have some sort of deal with St.Louis were he signs 1-year contracts and then lets himself get traded at the deadline every year haha.  Watch he re-signs with St.Louis in the summer.

Its ashame we couldnt pull the same trick with Mats Sundin…

  3. Sharxfan20 says:

Actually, trading Tkatchuk may very well be a great idea. He is one of St. Louis' more dominant players, and trading him would make St. Louis a near guarantee for John Tavares or Victor Hedman, which opens a door of opportunity….Not to mention the other draft picks they'll probably recieve should this become a reality.

  4. Rico420 says:

It'll be hard to rip someone off as nicely as they did Dandy Don the first time around though.

this looks like talent that could win the cup i think that most of these players dont belong on there teams like in calgary or in vancouver they are ver ydefensive and explosive speed included great fit for montreal they would have the energy for the playoffs and at the end they can just go to free agency i think its worth trading the picks for…
