Rumors from

The Toronto Maple Leafs failed to trade John-Michael Liles last season, then opted to use their compliance buyouts on Mikhail Grabovski and Mike Komisarek instead. Word is, the Leafs might be willing to assume some of Liles’ salary if they can move the veteran, now biding time with the Toronto Marlies. Nonis now has no other option, save letting Liles toil away in the AHL until the 2015-16 season concludes. Liles may not be top-four material anymore, but he’s good enough to play in the NHL still.

Fans are furious. A coaching change has already been made. And now Flyers GM Paul Holmgren is on the hot seat, reports

That was the most captain-like performance I’ve ever seen from Phaneuf. What a beast he’s been this season.

The first period was bad, but not as bad as it seemed on the stat sheet. Our shots weren’t there, but we had a couple chances where we just missed, and we held one of the highest shots/game teams for just 6 in the period. Second and third were great. Gardiner was a stud, and JVR is really looking like an elite power forward this year.

I’m really excited for Clarkson to come back to add some jump to the lineup. He may not be the most skilled guy, but he works hard and he will be looking to make an early impact. Hopefully less slow starts when he comes back.

Yeah hats off to Phaneuf. He has played really well. Actually the Leafs would probably be really screwed without him.

I too liked how Gardiner played. With a little patience, Gardiner and Rielly could become a dominant offensive force from the blueline.

JVR is a beast. Easy to see now why he was a 2nd overall pick.

The number of offensive weapons the Leafs have right now is impressive.

Ya Dion was an animal against Getzlaf and Perry last night. Loved the way he played against them.

Phil and JVR are money together. Both can fly out there, they’re so deadly on the rush. Converting on two 2 on 1’s yesterday!

Then late in the game Kadri tries to force a pass to Lupul on the 2 on 1, right before Kessel tries to force one to Bozak. We could have really lit it up last night.

Great game, very fun to watch.

Not to mentioned both Mcclement and Raymond getting robbed by Hiller when we were still down 2-0. We didn’t have a lot of shots, but we had a lot of chances.

Ya those saves came in like back to back shifts. That was wild, I was thinking “oh man, I can see why the Ducks are so hot right now, looks like a loss looming…” And then Kessel and JVR took over from there.
