The Maple Leafs have to jump on this. This is the kind of center we need.
JM Liles? Phaneuf? Gunnarsson? Make a package around that?
Toronto needs O’Reilly more than people think, last goo center to be available was Brad Richards, maybe Grabovski at some point.
NYR has apparently offered Del Zotto, but I don’t get why they need him. They already have Richards/Stepan?
I think the Rangers are doing that because they are very deep on the blue line thereby making Del Zotto expendable. And championship teams are strong down the middle.
I heard the opposite, Colorado asked for MDZ and the Rangers passed.
I’d do Bozak + Gunnarsson. Both are good players but replaceable.
I think are entire defence is replaceable…The advantages of the availability of defencemen in UFA and Toronto being deep in quality defenceman prospects.
I think our top-4 one day will consist of Reilly, Gardiner, and Matt Finn. Love all 3 of them, super mobile, and Finn is a defensive beast.
While I think he can help I am not sure what I give up. I am not sure that the package gets it done
Jets have young offensive defence man Paul Postma that has potential of top 4 and a 2nd round pick this year for O’Reilly…..C’mon Jets lets make it happen! The Jets are tanking and have the worst luck, they need to shock the troops!
Phaneuf and Kostka are minus 5 and average about 25 minutes ice time.
Compare that to Franson (+8) and Fraser (+11), and average 15 minutes ice time.
Time for Carlyle to balance the ice time on the blueline.
franson has been getting 17-20 minutes over the past 4 games, so Carlysle has noticed. Dion’s best games have been during this span as well. Franson seems to have no problem handling the extra ice time. I’ve always liked this guy and we could probably get him for another 3-4 years between $2.5-$3 mil per. If we had not traded Aulie, we could have Phaneuf, Franson, Aulie, Gunnar, Gardiner and Reilly as our future top 6 and a guy like Fraser as the 7th. I like the look of that.
Just had to bring up the Aulie trade eh??? Now I am sad lol ughhhh hate that trade still
Yep. lol
O’Reilly & Kobasew for Frattin, Bozak, 2013 2nd.
I can’t believe I am gonna say this but I would trade Grabo before bozak right now lol
I know what you mean.LOL
Bozak is a usefull player, but I don’t buy into “he is the guy who has solidified that line.” that I keep hearing in the media. The line took off when JVR was moved to it, which was also the time that the Grabo line died. JVR is the key.IMO
Hey, I would like to package Grabo and MacArthur(+ if we had to) for O’Reilly, I just don’t see the AV’s taking on that much salary.
Franson is playing above his head and is a pending RFA so why not package him with Percy or some decent looking prospect for O’Rielly?
I don’t see this deal getting done though Nonis is a mizer for blueliners, he hates trading them. In this regard he’s worse than Burke IMO.
I’m not sure what the basis for Franson playing above his head is? He is just playing solid D, nothing spectacular just a solid game. The points will probably drop off, I mean, I doubt anyone is expecting 60pt seasons out of him, but 30-40 per season is very realistic. He also won’t break the bank to re-sign.
I understand the idea of using him to get O’Rielly(not a fan of it, but I understand it), I’m not sure how we replace his size and skill set on D though.
