This doesn't make up for the fact that Briere's agent offered the Sabres a 5 year, 25 million dollar extention right after abitration. That could have saved the Sabres alot of trouble.

roy is going to be the next briere for buffalo except a bonified #1 center, you'll see. and for a cheaper price than $7.5million

I don't know. It's pretty silly to give this guy 4 million a year at such a young age. Will he be good? Most likely but its almost as if teams are signing up players when they are young based purely on potential. Its a huge risk for teams to be signing guys with little experience to such long term contracts.

Something completely unrelated. Does anybody know of any good fantasy hockey keeper leagues?

just think…..roy will be 28, 29 30, his prime years, in his final years of the contract making 4 million per. thats a huge bargain. at taht point he may be a 80-90 point player considering now he is likely their top centre for years to come.

Brilliant signing for the Sabres. I like that they have now locked up Vanek 7 Roy long-term. At 4 mill a year, this will turn out to be a steal for the Sabres, this guy is a rising star and with Drury & Briere gone, an future captain with top line minutes coming his way.

hell compared to the 4.3/year for Penner this is a steal! Good move by the Sabres to lock their guys up long term, still some good youth coming up and some cap space… now they should sign Miller and Campbell long term.

I think this is a great signing, especially because of the length of the contract. Everyone benefited here, and is pretty fair to everyone, except maybe at the end of the deal for Roy if he increases his production. But you cannot get something for nothing...
