The website, along with Buffalo’s WGRZ-TV, reports that the Sabres have finally begun negotiations with free-agents-to-be Chris Drury and Daniel Briere, and did make Briere an offer late Wednesday evening.

Also reported is that Dainius Zubrus expects to become a free agent as the Sabres have yet to offer him a contract. “That’s certainly the direction it looks like it’s headed,” his agent, Jerrold Colton said Wednesday.

“Certainly, these things can get done if both sides are motivated,” Colton said. “But at this point, we’re anticipating that Dainius will hit the market.”
