Sabres offer contract to Briere, expected to let Zubrus go is reporting that, as of Wednesday night, the Sabres have offered unrestricted free agent forward Daniel Briere a contract, and are not expected to offer a contract to trade deadling acquisition Dainius Zubrus.

The website, along with Buffalo’s WGRZ-TV, reports that the Sabres have finally begun negotiations with free-agents-to-be Chris Drury and Daniel Briere, and did make Briere an offer late Wednesday evening.

Also reported is that Dainius Zubrus expects to become a free agent as the Sabres have yet to offer him a contract. “That’s certainly the direction it looks like it’s headed,” his agent, Jerrold Colton said Wednesday.

“Certainly, these things can get done if both sides are motivated,” Colton said. “But at this point, we’re anticipating that Dainius will hit the market.”

Briere stays in Buffalo, Drury and Zubrus are gone to whoever wants to pay big money for them.

TSN just reported that Briere turned down the Saber's offer. Looks like he'll be a UFA come July 1st. I would love to see him in the Hab's uniform next year, however I don't think he'' come to Montreal.

I couldn't see Zubrus back in a habs jersey….Dam i  hope not anyways,we have several prospects that should be given a shot at the big team before we hand that lazy ass a contract.I don't think zubrus even knows that there are corners in a ice rink
