Sabres Re-Sign Gaustad

According to the Buffalo Sabres have reached a deal with centre Paul Gaustad who avoided salary arbitration by signing a $1.425-million US, two-year contract Sunday.

Gaustad will make $675,000 next season, a slight raise over the $450,000 contract he made as an NHL rookie last season. He was scheduled to have his arbitration hearing Wednesday. Thats one more down on Sabres now shortened list of players scheduled for arbitration. They still have three players scheduled for arbitration hearings, starting with forward J.P. Dumont on Monday. That group of three also includes Maxim Afinogenov, whose hearing is scheduled for Thursday. Afinogenov is expected to command a hefty raise over his $1.08 million contract after leading the team with 73 points last season.

He’s a really hard working guy and normally was the player you noticed most on the ice when Rochester of the AHL came into town.

Appears he has brought that attitude with him into the NHL. Smart all around player, even though he doesnt have a strong skill set, he does work hard for his results.
