Sabres Rumors

Spector’s Hockey just published the following rumors on the Buffalo Sabres:
SPECTOR’S INSIDERS:

A source out of New York reports the Florida Panthers are trying to move backup goaltender Trevor Kidd. Also, the Panthers are speaking to the Sabres about a potential deal that would send forward Chris Gratton, goalie Bob Essensa, winger Eric Boulton and the Detroit Red Wings’ first round pick (obtained by the Sabres in the Dominik Hasek trade) to Florida. In return, the Panthers would ship tough-guy winger Peter Worrell, defenceman Bret Hedican and a third rounder to Buffalo.

A source out of Detroit reports if the Red Wings cannot land Pittsburgh Penguins blueliner Darius Kasparaitis, goaltender Dominik Hasek has suggested they contact the Sabres regarding the availability of Richard Smehlik, with gritty forward Darren McCarty to be used as bait.

These seem to make sense from Buffalo’s financial point of view. It would bring some much needed grit to the team as well.
