Interesting that Tavares and Gagner are buddies. I didn't know that, but they're both from Oakville so its not crazy to believe.

Anyway's I really think Sam Gagner is the guy Burke should go after. Here we have a guy who is just 22 and has already completed 4 full season of NHL hockey. In his 4 years in the league he's posted 49, 41, 41, and 42 points. Any time a guy can put up 49 points as an 18 year old you know there is some serious skill and potential there. He's missed 14 games in each of the last two seasons, so overall during his NHL career he has been producing at about a 50 point pace in every season.

I don't see any reason why Gagner, by the time he reaches his prime (somewhere in the next 2-4 years) can't take that next step up and be a 60-80 point player. I would seriously take a run at him if I were Burke and have another capable center for when Connolly is hurt. He could also be a potential replacement for Connolly when his contract is up at the end of next year. Why put all our eggs in one basket with Colborne? Have some options kicking around!
