Samsonov Requests Trade

Sergei Samsonov’s agent confirmed to the Journal de Montreal that his client wants out of Montreal and would like to be traded prior to the February 27th deadline.
Blackhawks GM Rick Dudley was on the Team 990 yesterday and had some very favorable words for Samsonov. With Adrian Aucoin being the subject of trade rumors to Montreal, can a deal involving the two players be in the works? Stay tuned.

Thank you Samsonov.  Please help us out in getting rid of you.

  2. Shawn84 says:

What a loser, he's not playing well and he's upset that he is a healthy scratch. You think he would of got the message the first time! Don't worry Sergei i think bob has been trying to get rid of you for a while. Don't let the door hit your a$$ on the way out! Welcome to Montreal Aucoin

  3. muckies says:

As far as I'm concerned, Samsonov should be serving hot-dogs at the Bell Center beofre games to make up for the money they are paying him…a player who just does not care about his team or coaches

  4. bleedingblu says:

Well I don't blame him! Wasn't he on the 4th line or something? Playing 6 mins a game?
Sergei should should come to the Leafs! O'Neil, Stajan and Samasonov for Second line.
Besides, many players seem to play better after leaving Montreal… uuuhhhmmm…. Darcy Tucker!….uuuhhhmm… Chad Kilger….. uuuuhhhmmm oh yeah .. No Panic Yanick!! Can you say "All Star"!! hahahaha…………. and they still keep Radek Bonk!!

  5. DeathCab says:

He was on the 4th line because he just wasn't getting it done on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd lines.  If a guy is playing like garbage and you let him sit on the 2nd line, you're telling your guys that your play means nothing (think Quinn).  That sort of attitude will ruin a team right quick.

  6. hockeyhead says:

    shock,  horror.

are you surprised?  the bruins traded him for a bag of pucks last year.

sorry marty reasoner and yan stastny…..but you guys stink.

Where are all the people who loved the Samsonov signing in July?

Back then I wrote that the addition of Samsonov would have zero effect on Montreal's offense and that the team would score just as many goals as the prior season but would suffer from a lack of physical play.  I also wrote that the team would be less productive at full srength than last year.

However, the Samsonov signing was a good idea.  He was the best player the Habs could get and his price was reasonable.  Someone needs to figure out how to coach him.

Samsonov for Aucion is  a huge mistake. It sends the ultimate negative message to the team's best player – Souray.

The best Montreal can do is to hope for a trade of Samsonov + Plekanec/Perezhoghin + third round pick for LaPointe + Smolinski.

The Samsonov, Forsberg and other rumors only serve to make Habs fans forget the major reason they are not making progress.  The first line is a total disaster, possibly the worst first line of any playoff contender.  They are getting worn down as the season progresses and are not a threat at even strength.

  8. Shawn84 says:

As good as tucker and kilger are playing for you guys, you still aren't in the playoffs and probably won't make it either. So we are really happy you picked them up! As for bonk, i don't think anyone can complain about what he has accomplished this year. We gave him a certain role to fill and he has done it to perfection, he is one of the reason's we are in fourth place. He has the responsibility of shutting down the opposition's best lines, and montreal is in the top ten of the league with goals against. I think when ppl talk of bonk they refer to his reputation he got out of ottawa. So i think you should think before you talk. I loved the idea of samsonov coming to mtl but his treatment is not out off line, he just never got the message and never bounced back. I just hope he can find his game somewhere else, unfortunate it wasn't here.

  9. darcysucker says:

Wow, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard, please take samsonov.  Hey, maybe samsonov will be the key to getting the leafs a stanley cup, how long has it been since your last one?  40 years.  As for darcy tucker, chad kilger and yanick perrault the habs weren't the only ones to give up on them, kilger never worked on any team, all he is is a 4th liner, and yanick, he is good and played well with the habs, but there was just no place for him at the time, hey how come the leafs didn't pick him up this summer, wow you're such a retard

  10. mkultra says:

bonk is playing pretty well this season plus he's got 3 goals in his last 2 games,
i would keep him if i were Bob

  11. PastParticiple says:

Well I wish he can quit for him, first because he is NOT the guy who deserved to be benched …. he played well these last days, and I completely understand him for asking a trade.

Samsonov can be an impact player in playoffs same for Kovalev, but why Carbo can't bench this Russian "SuperStar",  RIDICULOUS,   Carbo should look at the game and benched the one who deserves it, not Samsonov.

    Good Luck Sergei !!!

  12. KDP1316669 says:

I am so sick of people complaining about Bonk, have  you not watched any of the games he is not the problem, and to be honest without him this year the Habs would not be as good on the PK, and in turn they would be down near the bottom not in 4th.

  13. habsoverserver says:

signing samsonov was gainey's plan D, after no one else wanted to join the team.

unlike boston which seems to have its pick of free agents, gainey has been able to sign only two free agents in four years.  and now one of them wants out.  pathetic.

samsonov was the best montreal could do.

even marty reasoner would turn down the Habs.

  14. habswinthecup-again says:

I agree, Bonk has been Montreal's best player for the last 3 weeks atleast. Plus he has played pretty damn good all season and along with Johnson are the main reason why the Habs are near the top in PK.

  15. bleedingblu says:

I would expect a reaction from like this from a guy who calls himself Darcysucker…… that sucker has more goals than any player on the Habs and he hasn't played in over a month. And another thing you just admitted that Montreal gave up on those guys and eventually became better. So maybe this isn't the dumbest thing you heard since you agreed.
Leafs didn't pick him up this summer because they were spending money on Michael Peca…. it was on the news… not sure if you heard.
Yah yah …40 years… I haven't heard that one! lets face it the one reason why Montreal won in 1993 – Patrick Roy …. and what happened to him? Team pissed him off… he left and won a couple of more with the Avs… no more cup for Habs ever again!

Point being, maybe the Habs should stop being so one sided…. with the old "its my way or the high way" attitude. Work with your players don't just scratch them. You know Samsonov could play… he's a proven 20+ goal scorer!!!

  16. darcysucker says:

Well darcy sucker might get some goals, but he's one of the most hated pricks in the nhl, and I rather not have him on my team, as for Kilger, he hasn't improved, he was a highly touted prospect who's become a 4th liner.  As for perrault, he didn't cost very much, any team on the nhl could've had him.  As for samsonov, he just hasn't produced, all he does is figure skate around the ice, he might've scored 20 goals a year, but that was playing with Joe Thornton, and look what he did with Cheechoo last year.   And as for scratching players, well the habs have enough depth that they can scratch players, I rather have a guy like max lapierre who plays hard, than samsonov on the team.

  17. Milohabs says:

    Idiot,
It was the Maple laughs who drafted & gave up on Perrault in the first place.
LOSERS!!!  CAN YOU SAY ALL STAR!!!

Never mind break the cup drout, you guys can't even make the post-season. In the meantime, the Habs with no 2nd line are in 4th spot in the east. You laugh all you want

Typical Leafs loser fan right here.

  18. 24_cups_and_counting says:

Just heard on the radio that Gainey's had enough and placed him on waivers. I guess there goes the possible trade with chicago, not like we needed aucoin and his retarded salary anyways.

  19. Milohabs says:

What does that mean exactly? Can any team pick him up for nothing?

  20. Marky2Fresh says:

Guess you forget Tucker has more goals then anyone on the Habs.

  21. 24_cups_and_counting says:

If Gainey recalls him, he'll have to clear waivers again. Any team can pick him up on re-entry waivers and the habs will have to pay the remaining 1/2 his salary for this year, but whoever picks him up, is on the hook for the full 3.5 next year.

  22. HotDogAllDressed says:

How can people actually criticize the Habs for this? There`s a reason boston basically gave him away and Edmonton didn`t make any effort to re-sign him. He was given oppurtunities but didn`t do anything, although I would have liked to see what would happen on a line with koivu and another winger other than Kovalev.

  23. leaferdude2 says:

actually,i'm not at all surprised at samsonov's stats this year.they're right where they should be considering what line he's playing on.remember, sergei's highest goal total in his career is 29 and that's playing with JOE THORNTON.that's pretty low considering what joe can do(ie cheechoo).montreal misjuged this guy in the off season and brought him in to score goals.NEWSFLASH.if he only got 29 playing with Thornton, what was he possibly going to do on the 4th line even though it was he that put himself there.

What a classless little lazy baby.
