Satan is an UFA

Miroslav Satan became an unrestricted free agent Sunday after the Buffalo Sabres declined to make a qualifying offer. He has led the team in scoring 6 times, has scored 30 goals 3 times, and is the top 10 for scoring for the Sabres.

Teams have been trying to get him for a while, and now they can get him without giving up and players in return. I think a lot of times will have interest in him like Vancouver, NJ, NYI, Boston and many more.

Best fit would be New Jersey, with his name and all.

Rumors are rising for a trade between Phoenix and Buffalo. Bucher and a draft pick for Satan and Noronen. I hope the dogs get Satan, but noronen wouldnt be much better then Boucher

    lol, mildly humourous.

  4. NYRules says:

sweet deal since hes a ufa and they no longer have satans rights

  5. NYRules says:

actually nvm that cause there is the compensation picks

Bob Clarke has had his eye on Satan for years. But we don’t need him. Philly needs a steady 2 way veteran GRINDER, not a flashy, but TALENTED goal scorer. Actually, now that I thought about it, I hope we do sign him. I hope he can play LW.

The Isles need to take a loooong look at Satan. They need to look at Palffy, McEachern and Satan, I think. They just need a scorer to play with Yashin, otherwise, it’ll be another wasted year for the Russian. And hopefully keep that defense of theirs intact somehow. They must keep Aucoin.

There was a lot of rumours at the deadline last season about the Canucks trying for both Zhitnik and Satan. I doubt Zhitnik but Satan could be a possiblilty.

There are already a handful of plausible rumours involving the canucks, though and what I see happening is something like this. (All salaries rounded and rough)

    First Line:

    Nazzy Fozzy Bertuzzi 12-15 Million

Many sources inside the NHL are predicting the uperstar maximum to be 5 mil or so until it is figured out what is happening next year. If the league revenues drop again then 7.4 million is no longer the top and you find yoursel fin a predicament with your stars. Fozzy and Nazzy have both said that they would take less money to both play with eahcother and play with a contender.

    Linden/Satan Morrison Satan/Kariya 6-8 Millions

Linden is signed at 2, Morrison would sign for most like 2 to 3 and the same for either Satan or Kariya (I personally hope for Kariya) There is an outside chance of going Satan Morrison Kariya, but I highly doubt it. I see this being close to 6 million.

    King Sedin Sedin 4 million

The Sedins for 1.5, King for 1 (or less)

    Cooke Chubarov May 2.5 milliom

    Total for forwards: 24.5 – 29.5

Defense gets interesting. Ohlund should earn at LEAST 2.5 million. Niedermeyer seriosulsy wants over so we can apply the 5 million rule to him as well and Jovo is slated for 4. Instantly this is not going to work. If Niedermeyer is serious about coming over look for Jovocop to be dealt, possibly for a younger prospect.

    Niedermeyer Ohlund 7.5 million

    Sopel Malik 2.5 million

    Allen Who knows… 1.5

    Total for defense: 11.5 million

    Cloutier Auld 2.5 – 3 million

    Best case total: 38 Million

Will this happen? Not a chance in hell.

Some surprises could happen though. If O’Neill signed for like 1.5 million with Toronto (I heard somethign about this) then it is very possibly that the like of Satan, Morrison and dare I say it, even Kariya, could see close to just slightly above that.

Another wild card is Niedermeyer… Word has it he really wants into Vancouver. We would love to have him. His brother, Rob Niedermeyer is a RFA with Anahiem and expect Nonis to try and get him from Burke to sweeten the deal with Scott. Any trade would take Jovocop. However, if the draft is any indication than Burke would rather have Ohlund. I would HATE to give Ohlund up and if it means letting Jovocop go for less than he is worht in order to bring in both Niedermeyers than as much as I hate to say it, that may be a good idea.

Nazzy and Forsberg also bring up questions…. Selanne and Kariya signed together for like 5 million or so, what number would these two swedes sign for? Not 5 Million, but under 10…. we’ll see…

A fan can hope… Who knows how it will work.

the ny isles will likely go for him. milbury has wanted him for a while.

  10. BlueOrangeWhite says:

add to that last comment, milbury has also shown prior interest in demitra, bondra, mchechearn, palffy, kovalev, and turgeon. one of more of them, including, satan will end up on long island.

  11. masarume says:

    LOL! Man you’re funny.

  12. wheresthesoda says:

    hahahaha…good one!

  13. wheresthesoda says:

mcechern is islanders best pick, he was great w/yashin in the past, why not now

  14. wingerxxx says:

I agree, if the Isles don’t want to spend a boatload of money, McEachern would be a safe bet. I think he’s still good for 25 goals a year. But someone like Palffy would be a better pickup, or Satan. They are premier goal scorers that shoot first and ask questions later. Kovalev would be a terrible choice, as he is a puck possession player. That is why Alfredsson and Yashin didn’t play much together in Ottawa. They both need the puck on their sticks. They need a pure sniper.

  15. GretzNYR99 says:

I think for once, Mike Milbury will take his head out of his ass and give this guy the big bucks to come play on the Island. As of right now, the Islanders are barely a playoff competitor. Teams like Pittsburgh, NYR, Atlanta, NYI are all on the cusp of being an 8th seed. All the Islanders need to do is shore up the defense, and get a sniper and they could quite possibly get back to where they were 3 years ago.

  16. Kashin says:

They arent persuing any fa 🙁 look at todays newsday. who needs palfy when you can have robert nillson *sarcasm*

  17. wingerxxx says:

If Milbury doesn’t sign someone like Satan or Palffy, that should be basis alone for firing him. Because if he doesn’t, he obviously doesn’t know what the needs of his team are. He’s been missing the point for the last few years, by not finding a scorer to play with Yashin, when it’s been obvious to anyone with a set of eyes that is what exactly what Yashin needs in order to be effective. You are right though. I think Mad Mike will finally wake up this summer. He needs to do two things. Get that scorer, and keep his defense relatively intact. If he can do those two things, he gets a good grade for the summer.

  18. Kashin says:

Well.. he wont. THe most they will get is Mcheachern on offense and maybe a checking like player. He thinks his prospects are better then outside players.

  19. Kashin says:

The most the isles will get is mcheachern

  20. wingerxxx says:

Yashin hasn’t shown much chemistry with the Isles younger up and coming players. If they only get McEachern, that’s what they’ll have to get. But they need someone from the outside to play with Yashin on that top line, or it’s going to be another painful year for everyone involved.

  21. BlueOrangeWhite says:

the isles are also going to go for berard.

  22. BlueOrangeWhite says:

i am not liking his conservative sounding comments in the papers the last few days. i am one of the few who doesn’t think milbury has been as bad for the club as most people. the majority of things he did over the yrs were forced on him salary dumps, etc.

BUT i agree that he needs a sniper and has needed one for 4 yrs already. if he doesn’t get that done, he should go.

far as the def goes, it doesn;t look good about keeping them together. looks like only ninimma is coming back this season. he’ll go to ufa’s for def, possibly berard, matt schneider, etc.
