Satan Would Welcome Trade To Contender

Sportsnet has reported that Miroslav Satan the teams 5 time leading scorer is upset with the teams bankruptcy and apparently wants to be traded. Satan told Detroit News that he would definitely welcome the chance to play for a team that has high ambitions and would like to win something (Stanley Cup).

Satan wants out of there bad. it was reported that satan even asked someone in the flyers organization to pressure Bobby Clarke for a trade to send him to Philly. most Flyers would agree when satan would be welcomed acquistion because of his sniping ability and ability to play defense.

  2. devilsfanatic says:

He’ll be in NJ IMO, you can rule the Flyers out of any trades for offense with the acquisition of Kapanen, but rather BC will look for a defensman!

With Satan in NJ we’ll be very depth filled for the time Brylin is out lines will be

    Elias Gomez Satan

    Friesen Nieuwendyk Langenbrunner

    Pandolfo Madden Gionta

    Bicek/McKenzie Rupp Stevenson

    When Brylin comes back

Gionta will take the RW on the fourth line and Bicek, Stevenson, McKenzie will alternate at LW and Brylin will take the RW on the 3rd line.

    Thats my view anyways

I really like the fact that MapleLeafs is sending quite an amount of article to HTR…. even though i reported this same thing months ago, he wasn’t here then….

But hey, respects to you MapleLeafs…..

May the Leaf fans keep runnin this site…..

    Go Leafs GO!

Most team would love to have Satan. His ability to score goals and play soundly defensively make him a player that many teams will want. But with the bankruptcy problems, he may not be able to be traded, but I’m sure Buffalo will try their best to get that sorted out to dump his salary.

Philly won’t trade for him because they have a similar playyer in Kappenen.

I think Toronto, Colorado, N.J are teams that are most likely to try to get him.

  5. mikster says:

Flyers don’t have much to offer at all for Satan.

I wouldn’t want Justin Williams….i’d want Gagne…if not, then nothing.

Devils can give up players. Their minor league system is damaged, but i would definitely trade Satan and a 3rd for Gomez and Berglund.

  6. wingerxx says:

he would be insane not to want to be traded to a contender from a team that is having massive financial problems.

  7. jacosta says:

Although I would love to see him in a leafs uniform, I can’t see it happening. Buff would want a player that can perform right away and some money. So who do you give up? The obvious would be Antropov, right?

Here is the problem, they are both in the same division and there is no way Reggier would want Satan coming back and whooping there butt. Also Pat Quinn would never want to drive down teh QEW to see Antropove haunt him. It really stinks but no GM would like to trade a player to a team within their conference let alone in their division.

So although he is the guy every leaf fan would love to have I doubt a trade within division would happen. That’s like Toronto trading Tucker to Ottawa for anyone. It would never happen

Have no idea if this is true because I don’t have TSN. For those that do, maybe you can elaborate or at least tell me if this was actually said. But apparently MacKenzie mentioned a deal between Philly and Buffalo (with Satan and Zhitnik included) could be close. Didn’t hear about who Philly would give up.

Again, don’t know if this is real or not; those who watched TSN today can say if I’m right or wrong. I’m assuming the league will have to step in since they are running the Sabres and have to approve a payroll change, regardless of whether its gaining or losing payroll.

Take it for what it’s worth until someone else can give you more concrete news about it. Just thought I’d mention it.

I know, but IMO it’ll be prospects, and thats why Berglund wasn’t listed, Berglund, Guolla, Hale and a pick

  16. allenbo says:

Satan has a great chance of being in Philly. Clarke has everything the Sabres need. Draft picks and couple 1 and 2 round picks and money. Philly is the third richest team behind Detroit and the Rangers. Money is what Buffalo wants and young talent that will not be too much money. Satan in Orange and Black!

  17. phillyflyers97 says:

satan will be a flyer, hitchcock supposedly covets satan and he has even asked to be a flyer. the flyers have want buffalo wants, and buffalo have what philly wants. even with kapanen trade philly still needs some patch work done on scoring

  18. TaajAr says:

Being a Sabres fan I can tell you Buffalo is SCREWED making a trade any which way. I heard a Rumor Philly offered Buffalo 2 first rounders for Zhitnik. Sounds like a deal to me especially with the deepest draft since the early 90’s.

The catch? Not many 1st rounders were less then $1 million a year last year, and with better talent you could see ALL first rounders getting 1.25-1.5 million a year!! The Sabres can’t afford that. It looks like they will probally start playing AHL players soon, so basically they get this years 1st pick. Add 2 or 3 I believe teams owed them plus any they get from trades and you get a team that busts its budget with rookies! Pretty sad.

So you’re probally saying then Regier can get cheap talent like Brenden Morrow, Justin Williams etc. (Buffalo can trade their entire team for Morrow IMO). Well most casual fans here would become angry that regier is trading his bigger name players for projects. Regier’s only option may be to amass a ton of 3rd and 4th rounders and hope for the best. Although 3rd and 4th rounders have been the best too come out of recent drafts.

how bout the infamous danton and tverdovsky?

  20. Aves21 says:

I would not mind seeing satan in an avs jersey.

  21. calflyers says:

    man your a dork

  22. calflyers says:

Clarke is NOT gonna include Gagne, Williams, Pitkanen, OR Woywitka.

Who would he include in the trade?

I would think the Sabres would want MORE than draft picks…

  23. Mackel says:

You’re exactly right… as of now the Sabers can’t trade Satan or anyone else for that matter because of the particulars of the bankrucy proccedings they are involved in.

  26. phillyflyers97 says:

clarke could give up draft picks, fedoruk, sharp (even though i really like what this kid could become), lefebvre (another good next year kind of guy), some other minor leaguers, or marcus ragnarsson who has been kind of a drag and is not really needed because of emergence of vandmeer and seidenberg but i doubt that buffalo would be willing to pay his contract and he is a ufa next season

  27. jammer21 says:

wow, now that he has already been traded to philly AND toronto, let us not forget……………THE SABRES HAVE SAID THAT THEY WILL MAKE ***NO*** MAJOR TRADES UNTIL THE OWNERSHIP SITUATION IS TAKEN CARE OF. and who the hell knows how long that would take………

  28. swedishvoice says:

Danton will be dumped someware… But Olie is needed for the play offs… We might have done good without him for now but he will be ther for the play off… I just hope the Devs does not give upp one Berglund as he is the best future prospect around.

  30. swedishvoice says:

To be honest i think the that the devils will go for other than Satan, unfortunatly. I think that Lamoriello will go for some one that is simular to Brylin and the only guy i see replacing Brylin is Magnus Arvedsson.

  31. njd4cup says:

If the devils get Satan, then more then likely Elias and/or Gomez will one way or another be invovled.I dont see that happening because those 2 have been playing well recently(in my opinion at least).

    i hope Buffalo’s GM listens to you : )

Satan (AND Schneider) would be nice!

I heard (in the local paper) that they are “going hard” after Schneider at least.

  35. matteo says:

Too many different versions of the same story are floating around. Two things are obvious

    1. Miro wants to come tot he Flyers

    2. The Flyers want Miro

But, like a few others have noted, the only thing that is left in this is the fact that Buffalo will not make any trades until they have the ownership situation straightened out.

I have also heard that a trade has been all but completed and that all that is pending is the NHL’s approval of the salary changes. I am not too sure what to think about all of this. I think the only thing to do in this situation is to wait and see what happens leading to the deadline.

  36. matteo says:

That is a VERY VERY scary thought.

  37. JStatic87 says:

There’s only one place for Satan……….The Devils. It just fits.

  38. MattNJD says:

I don’t agree. I think the flyers WANTED Miro, but couldn’t pry him away for Buff for cheap enough. Hence Clarke pulls the trigger on Kapanen before someone else does, realizing that whatever the sabres wanted in return was not worth parting with.

  39. MattNJD says:

I can only hope so!!!! WORK THAT PHONE LOU!

  40. absolutehockey96 says:

no the flyers cant get anything out of buffalo being they CAN NOT MAKE TRADES being they are league run till an owner comes around. Satan will become a flyer, but i will admit he would look good with the devils.
