Senators’ Jared Cowen sits out again, awaiting next move in career
Cowen was a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game Sunday against the Chicago Blackhawks, once again making way for Binghamton call-up Fredrik Claesson.
We’ve yet to hear a Jonathan Drouin-like trade demand, but it’s difficult to see Cowen climbing back into a top four spot with the Senators any time soon. He has been a healthy scratch five times this season. In mid-November, GM Bryan Murray challenged him to improve.
Cowen has a 2016-17 salary of $4.5 million and a salary-cap hit of $3.1 million, making a trade difficult.
