I wouldn't want players back. Best pick available at the draft. Guys like Jackman and Hannan can be found as free agents why not translate them into some assets. At the deadline teams tend to over pay, maybe a 2nd or 3rd round pick could be squeezed out of a team.

If we were in playoff chase them sure hang on them but I don't see that happening.

I'm not arguing with that fact; however, the Selanne's and Lidstrom's of the world are the exception, and there is no steadfast formula that can predict whether or not Igninla will continue to be dominant past 35. Again, I don't doubt he could do it, I simply have a problem assuming he will.

For the money, you aren't going to get a better player for them in a trade. Hannan is the only Flame who is hitting at all right now and is very responsible in his own end. He may be worth a 6th round pick to another team so I say we might as well finish the year with him.
The same can be said for Jackman. You aren't going to get a 30 goal a year guy for him and he brings it every night so again, he can keep playing on my team until he loses his edge.

Rod Brind'Amour, Mats Sundin. Lots of these big athletic greats were capable of maintaining that PPG avg past the age of 35. Iginla is another one of them. He always starts slow, he'll be up over 70 points this year for sure, maybe up over 80.

Jokinen, could certainly be moved for a 2nd + a prospect, he's been the flames most complete forward this year. Big role playing centermen at the deadline always receive an overpayment.

Exactly. I'm not suggesting we give away guys like Jackman and Hannan, but if a decent return is available they have to be moved.

The problem with Jokinen is you never know when he's going to show up. Trading a 2nd for the Jokinen that actually shows up is a steal, but trading a 2nd for guy who floats around, not so much.

yes Joel some do decline but my point was that most great players find a way to produce even past the age of 35. I just hate how everyone doubts Iggy can do it.

There replaceable though. They are nice but if they have value to other teams you pull the trigger. Those aren't the type of players you keep around if you have an offer for them. At least in my opinion.
