I would be very surprised to see Montreal trade aways the league’s best goalie (similar to the Roy trade) to Colorado for Tanguay & Morris, who are both great, but this deal would leave Montreal without a decent goalie.
Theodore is far from being the league’s best goalie.
Morris isn’t goung anywhere. They will probable trade Tanguay, and Skoula, and draft picks for Theodore. Morris will be with the Avs for years to come. GO AVS!!!!!!!!!

Hasek is back. Detroit can’t keep both Cujo and Hasek, so Cujo has to go. But the problem is, we don’t know where he’s going.

Theodore? Leagues Best Goalie?!? HAHAHHAHAH, what a crock of crap. One 30 win season doesn’t make him the best goalie in the NHL. Fucking idiot, learn that it takes more than one 30 win season to be the best goalie in the NHL. Brodeur and Giguere are the top 2 in the NHL, not in order. All of a sudden Theodore has a hot streak and leads the French Frogs back into the playoffs for the first time in 4 years, and now LETS GO CALL HIM PATTY ROY. A big part of that was his team playing in front of him, they played great. It was all for Saku, who is a CHAMP in my book.

You are focusing on wins, I’m focusing on potential, talent and performance. He has got what it takes. However, with a shitty team you can’t win many games. Hence, Montreal has got to do something about their defense and offense, so they will have a decent team and they can once again compete. The goalie, however, is one of a kind. Trust me, 10 years from now he has Roy’s status.

Theodore is not the league’s best goalie. He is so overrated it’s incredible. He had his one excellent season but this past season he pretty much sucked. If I was montreal I would take Tanguay and Morris in 3/4 of a second. Two great young players. And doesn’t Montreal still have Thibault? Thibault can be an above average number 1 goalie.
How many 30 win years has Giguere have?
Brodeur and Hasek are the top 2 goalies in the NHL.
Cujo will not go to Boston, He has already stated he would not want to go there. A trade between St Louis is more likely (Dougie Weight)

Yeah, Theo is not the best in the league, but I think anyone could trash your pick of Giguere just as easy. He had a great season last year (his only 30+ win season as well), but that hardly puts him up there with Brodeur. Before last season he’d never had an above .500 record. Both Theo and Gigeure need a few more seasons under their belts before anyone can start calling them the best in the league.
Seriously, Thibault probably had his best season this year with the Hawks.
Theodore for Tanguay and Morris, I wouldn’t trade Tanguay for Theodore, he is not worth any of those players, I sincerely doubt Colorado would give up this much talent especially with their defensive gap right now. The only way I see Tanguay or Morris leaving town would be for Sean Burke or Nikolai Khabibulin who are both longshots. Colorado is sticking with Aebischer/Sauve until they need to do otherwise.
How in the hell can Colorado afford to trade any defensemen? Morris? Skoula? Are you guys nuts? They need those guys to stick around, they don’t have de Vries or Marchment, and they are lacking as it is at the blue line. If anything, and I hope NOT for Theodore, if we go for a goalie, trade either Battaglia, Aubin, Hinote..and if we really have to Tanguay. I really think we ought to just go after a defenseman on the free agent market and leave the goalie situation as is.
To answer your question… CuJo will NOT sign with anyone. Yes, he’s in the second year of his 3 year $24mil with Detroit, however he has waived his no trade clause so if he plays for any other team, it’ll be through trade.
My take on it is, if he goes anywhere it’ll be sometime in August. And do NOT expect to see a Doug Weight caliber player heading to Detroit. CuJo is a good goalie, but Detroit is desperate to rid his contract, they’ll take whatever they can get. I see them pulling a trade similar to the one that sent Hasek to Detroit for Slava Kozlov+.

If Abby can’t take the work load then yes we need a proven #1. I think it will be Felx Potvin if anybody signs, any other trade would be a bad move on the Avs part with the way their depth is depleted now. Althought PL has been known to surprise us from time to time I think he would sign rather then trade from this point.

The Lightning seem to want hamrlik so bad and Colorado needs help in net… Tampa has already put down Colorado’s offer so maybe we could see a 3 team trade: Tanguay & a draft pick for Roman Hamrlik and then ship him with or without another draft pick for Nikolai Khabibulin. That way the lightning get their man, The isles get rid of moody hamrlik for a young player that will get better (playing with yashin) and Colorado gets their goalie without giving up Derek Morris.

He only had one good year also and everyone here glorifies him. So why don’t you say the same about theodore. Giguere didn’t even have a good year, he only had his playoff run.
