Sorry Oils fans, no Nylander for you.

Contrary to what has been reported by TSN last night (which was coming from an Edmonton radio station), Michael Nylander has apparently signed a 4-year deal with the WASHINGTON CAPITALS today.

Well that should put the Yashin to capital rumors to rest. Great signing by the caps with a new line of Ovechkin-Nylander-Semin that sounds pretty damn scary to me

Wow….interesting.  I think this might kill the chances of Yashin coming to Washington, unless they want to keep Kozlov at right wing almost full time.  And I'd rather have Kozlov playing center.  The Caps have two pretty good playmakers up front now.  And Nylander gets to play with yet another extremely skilled winger.

I don't like the deal from the Capitals perspective though.  Four years?  I am not big on the idea of giving 35 year old players that kind of contract, unless Nylander really keeps himself in optimum shape.  But Ovechkin gets his center, and the MCI Center fans have always liked Nylander for some reason.

Semin won't play with Ovechkin, he'll be on the second line, probably centered by Kozlov.  The first line, I have to imagine, will be Ovechkin-Nylander-Clark.

the second line most likely will be centered by Backstrom… at least that's what they're hoping for.

They're hoping for that, but it's really hard for me to see Backstrom stepping up that early.  Plus, I still believe that Kozlov is a lot more useful at center.

But hey, if Backstrom can do the job, that's great.  Kozlov isn't too bad of a winger either.

Now finally people have to be really respectful of the Caps offensive power. I expect the pairing of Ovehkin and Nylander to become a point explosion.
