Source: Suter doesn’t want to come to Philly

While there are a number of logical reasons why the Flyers would want to pursue Nashville defenseman Ryan Suter, who is headed for unrestricted free agency this summer, the question remains: Is Suter interested in them?

Recall the Flyers had serious interest in Jay Bouwmeester several summer ago, but it wasn’t reciprocal. As such, they turned their attentions elsewhere by going after Chris Pronger.

According to a well-placed source, Suter has a potential list of clubs he would be willing to talk to even if his rights were traded before July 1. Suter is represented by Neil Sheehy.

Alas, the Flyers are not one of them.

In fact, the source said, all of Suter’s preferred destinations, should he leave the Predators, are in the Western Conference – not the East.

Detroit is generally conceded to be his top choice.

It’s no secret the Flyers have some work ahead of them in the coming weeks to solidify their defense, especially given it appears Pronger’s status as “out indefinitely” with post-concussion syndrome will continue into next season.

Nashville general manager David Poile, the source said, has thus far refused to talk with any clubs about moving Suter or even restricted free agent Shea Weber’s rights right now.

    @Trade Man

I don’t see a PM option, so sorry to all for the post…

The majority of my messages don’t seem to be posting. Is this a censorship thing (ala, my liberal use of the swears) or a technical thing? I tried to reply about 10 times yesterday and nothing went up.

If it’s post moderation and you think the swears as too bad, that’s cool and all, but I’m out. If I have to wait for moderation and you won’t post my words because of a word or two that are arbitrarily decided to be ‘bad’ I leaving this site as fast as possible.

Josh yes… there is a filter because of swear words. If you post a comment with a swear word it is going to be filtered. Also comments with links are filtered. I can then approve or deny those comments. This is to prevent bad stuff from being posted.

Well, it’s Joel, but I get Josh all the time.

Also… why? What portion of your audience will flee the site at the terrible site of a ‘swear’? Are you sponsored by a church youth group or something?

Are there words that we can say that aren’t bad, like Bukkake, or Santorum, or Nazi-buttsecks-sandwich?

Though I hate censorship in any form, the stars of the old site were at least tolerable (e.g. “cir****vent, Hitch****). Having to wait to respond kind of kills the conversation…

Maybe implement a ‘report’ button so that if someone posts porn or something they can be promptly taken down. I mean, really, if you’ve been on the Internet long you know that there is some F-ed stuff out there, finding it isn’t hard, I see no reason for ppl on this forum to make malicious posts.

And is the policy that if I drop a horrible word like b itch my posts simply gets outright rejected? If we really want to circomevent it we’ll find a way. F ü ℃ |<

You seem really angry about this. In reality you have no idea how much time I have spend in my life clearing inappropriate postings. I really can not apologize for trying to keep this site somewhat clean. Why would you go out of your way to swear on HTR. Can you not find a different word to say?

Having moderation isn’t making your life easier, its making your life harder. Hardly anyone on this site cares about an f bomb or s hi t or for saying d am n.

Articles, fine, moderate those, but comments? Come on. This isn’t a site where everyone can post a comment without signing up. It’s an unnecessary thing. Especially for links.

Joel’s suggestion of having a “report” button is much better. For you and us.

First off, I think I speak for all of us when I say that we really much appreciate what you do for this site. We all gain much joy from it, even curmudgeons like me that are never happy.

If someone abuses the site, just ban them. Hell, ban me if you think swearing is so bad. All words are simply the meaning behind them, words that some think are bad others think are fine, it’s all arbitrary. Limiting expression is always bad.

Again, thank you for all your hard work, sorry if I come across b itchy whiny, but it really urks me that all us adults have to be shielded from some bad words.

Please also understand here that I am having to learn a new major program here. Yes there are still some bugs that I am having to work out.

Agree with Joel on everything. Don’t want to seem like we just B*tch and B*tch at you haha but we love this site and want it to function properly just as much as you do.

          • Gambo says:

Yeah I’m pretty sure everyone on this site is atleast 18, swearing shouldn’t be a big deal. If someone spams the site with inappropriate links, they should be banned. But whether anyone likes it or not, swearing is a large part of society now, especially in hockey.
