Sourced Trade Rumours

I found a lot of interesting rumours from various other sites and figured I’d pass them on to HTR readers.

First off, the following trade rumours are from this site http://www.thefourthperiod.com/rumors.html

Columbus Blue Jackets: GM Scott Howson is believed to be on the look out for a Top Line Centre and Top 4 Defenceman.

Florida Panthers: GM/Coach Jacques Martin has been on the look out for an enforcer to protect his star players. Martin is supposedly looking at Ottawa Senators forward Chris Neil and Columbus Blue Jackets enforcer Jody Shelley is thought to also be on Martin’s radar.

Los Angeles Kings: GM Dean Lombardi is believed to be shopping forwards Dustin Brown and Alexander Frolov around in an attempt to obtain a goaltender and to improve the Kings all around defensive core. Dustin Brown rumours may be over as LA has apparently signed him to a 6 year extension according to spectorshockey.net.

Calgary Flames: Forward Alex Tanguay has dismissed the possibility of being traded to Montreal for Alex Kovalev, saying he has no reason to believe the rumours as he is perfectly fine playing alongside Iginla and Conroy. CKAC radio station has suggested the Habs offered Steve Begin, Garth Murray and Guillaume Latendresse for Tanguay. Apparently they don’t know that Murray has no NHL worth and Tanguay has a no trade clause.

Source of these Rumours is this site “http://rumormethis.com/

Peter Forsberg: Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun has reported that Forsberg has narrowed his choices down to Colorado and Ottawa as being his likely destination. Also, according to Garrioch, Forsberg has set November 15th as his date to come back.

Ottawa Senators: Bryan Murray has made it clear he wants anothe Top 6 Forward to add scoring to his already potent line up. A possible candidate might be the re-aquiring of Marian Hossa. Also, Brian McGratton may be on the trade block.

Washington Capitals: Caps forward Matt Bradley is apparently on the Caps trade block.

These rumours came from “http://proicehockey.about.com/od/rumorcentral/a/trade_rumors.htm

Florida Panthers/Toronto Maple Leafs: Apparently Wade Belak is also under Martin’s radar and Martin is supposedly offering Mike Van Ryn in return. If this were to happen, it would benefit both teams needs in toughness and defence.

Phoenix Coyotes: The NY Rangers are actively pursuing defenceman Ed Jovanovski says the Toronto Sun. Boston and Philly have inquired about defenceman Derek Morris as well.

Philadelphia Flyers: If a team is looking for grit and toughness, Denis Gauthier is available and could probably be had for next to nothing.

These rumours are from “http://www.spectorshockey.net/rumors.html

Florida Panthers: According to Spectors Hockey, the Panthers have signed Jassen Cullimore to a one year contract.

Russian Super League: According to Peter Kula and TSN.ca, Danny Markov has signed a 2 year 4 million dollar deal with Moscow Dynamo. And Darius Kasparaitis has apparently signed with SKA St. Petersburg.

New Jersey Devils: According to the New York Post, Devils GM Lou Lamoriello is contemplating putting D-man Richard Matvichuk on waivers.

Swiss Elite League: Swiss club Zug has apparently signed Andon Carter, Jeff Freisen and Travis Green.

Toronto Maple Leafs: According to Darren Dreger teams have been calling about Alex Steen, Matt Stajan and Wade Belak. According to Dreger, JFJ has no deal on the table, just listening to offers.

I know a lot of these will probably never happen but some of it’s very interesting. Maybe we can look forward to a HUGE deal this year that just defies logic, like Thornton for Primeau, Sturm and Stuart.

Neil's going nowhere.  He brings it all for us.  Plays with heart and if paired with people with reasonable skill, can pocket a few goals as well.  Especially cuz Gratz doesn't play on a day-to-day basis, Neil has the enforcer duties.

Secondly, there's absolutely no way in hell that Hossa comes back to Ottawa.  He's done nothing in the playoffs and I'm sure that Murray is only looking for people with playoff experience at this point.

  2. leafy says:

If the Leafs trade Stajan or Steen, I'm going to jump out the window.  Mind you, I live on the ground floor.

  3. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

offers for belak……..well now i know that rumer is crap

  4. leafy says:

You never know.  Florida could be offering a bag of dried oranges for him, no?

  5. Rickoo7 says:

  6. 29teamsrock says:

Funny, I would of thought you lived in your parents basement, as an effort to capture the true essence of what it is like to actually play for the leafs… always in the basement.

  7. habsrock99 says:

Well, from what I got, JFJ is just entertaining offers and probably has no point in trading either Stajan or Steen but hey, it is JFJ.

  8. neilios says:

Forsberg is going to the Canucks, and its also rumored that they are looking for someone to play with the Sedins on the 1st like and the names been mentioned are Jeff O'Neil and big Anson carter.I think anyone of those 2 would be great signings. This is how the Canucks would look.

    Sedin          Sedin         O'Neil
    Naslund      Forsberg      Morrison
    Pyatt           Kesler         Cooke

  9. prayin-for-the-wce says:

Chris Neil is like a Matt cooke who isn't a *****, doesn't turtle, and can actually chip in once in a while.  A great agitator, I would love to have him on the Canucks, instead of that ***** Cooke.

  10. prayin-for-the-wce says:

"A brain is going to Nelios, and its also rumored that hes looking for someone to play with his noodle on the 1st like and the names been mentioned are Jeff O'Neil and big Anson carter.I think anyone of those 2 would be great for him to blow off. This is how the Canucks would look.

  13. senators101 says:

Neil is the type of guy you want in a playoff.  Can change the momentum with his hits and fights.  He's worked really hard on his speed over the past 2 years to keep up in the new NHL and he deserves serious credit.  He's one guy who will work hard for you night in and night out and will stand up for anyone.  To think he's going to leave is ludicrous.

  14. senators101 says:

LMAO SEdin Sedin Neilos.  Well said bro.

  15. senators101 says:

Are you the canucks fan version of Senators78? shiiiit.

  16. leafy says:

    Good one!

Statistics show that many Leaf fans reside in high-rise condos.  Might be an indication of a president's trophy and Stanley Cup on the horizon, no?

  17. flyav says:

I still think Philly is in the mix for Forsberg.  But I feel like Colorado has by far the best shot.  OTT and Philly tied for second.  With Van no where close, he wants to play for a contender.  Which maybe Philly aint quite yet but he has said that he has unfinished business here and with all the additions there won't be the same type of pressure on him as before.

  18. wayne2 says:

And Hossa would command too much money too.Forsberg at 3 mil is worth a shot.

  19. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

they could…but i mean really..would you make that trade????I'd keep the oranges

  20. wayne2 says:

    1-Neil is staying in Ottawa.
2-If i was Montreal i would rather trade Kovalev for Tanguay.
3-Forsberg in Ottawa is possible but i still believe he will sign and end his career in Colorado.
4-Jovanovski is way overpaid so if the rangers are sucker enough they deserve him.Same with Philly and Morris.
5-Columbus could try to get Gauthier, not elite but very physical.
6-I kept this one for last but if the sens dont sign Forsberg(good chance they wont) another option is a deal with LA.They need a goalie and we have 2 very capable goalies.I wouldnt mind either one of Gerber or Emery to the kings.
    To LA:Gerber + Corvo
    To Ottawa: Frolov + Aubin
The kings get a solid goalie and defensemen while the sens get a decent backup(cheaper,we need to save to sign Spezza) and a very good young top line forward.

  21. neilios says:

Hey I would pop in 20 goals with the Sedin's I think anyone would that can skate.

  22. A-Train24 says:

Check the cap figures Neilios, the canucks do not have the necessary cap room for Forsberg alone, forget Forsberg and O'Neil/Carter

  23. KevinBaconFan says:

I understand that during the next Toronto home game, the ice will be replaced by a frozen sheet of maple syrup.  All ticket holders in attendance will be given Eggo waffles as well and can dip them in the syrup rink after the game.  A benefit concert by Bryan Adams, comedy by Alan Thicke, and an appearance by the LaBatt Blue Bear riding a tricycle will follow.

  24. KingCanada says:

yeaaa.. the Wade Belak for Mike Van Ryn is a lie.

First off even if enforcers are in demand, nobody would give up a top 4 defenseman for Belak.

Secondly the leafs already have plenty of defenders if not too many (McCabe, Kabrele, Kubina, Gill, White, Colaiacovo, Woz, Kronwall, Stralman, now thats 6 regulars and 3 in and out).

Thirdly Van Ryn doesnt fit in our cap system because he makes 2.9 million.  If you swap the players that makes for an increase of 2.275 for Toronto's cap which there is already no room.

Maybe Belak for a mid round pick or sumthing

  25. jarcpitre says:

Who would you rather have Forsberg now or Sundin at the Trade Deadline. IMO I would take Sundin. A little off the topic but just wanted to see people's views on this one.

  26. KingCanada says:

    To Colombus: Pavel Kubina(D)
To Toronto: Alex Picard(LW), 2nd rounder

To Colombus: Martin Straka(C) (when he gets back from broken finger)
To New York: Dan Fritche(C), Kris Russell(D)

    To Florida: Wade Belak
To Toronto: 3rd round pick (apparently Florida is desperate for an enforcer)

    To Ottawa : Alexander Frolov(LW)
To LA: Martin Gerber(G), Nick Foligno(LW)

    To Washington: 4th round pick
To Anyone who wants him: Matt Bradley(RW)

    To New York: Derrick Morris(D)
To Phoenix: Peter Prucha(C), Thomas Pock(D)

I believe these trades are within the realm of fairness so feel free to cut them up if yall want because i dont expect any of these rumors to be true except for LA's search for a goaltender.

  27. habsrock99 says:

Florida is on the lookout for an enforcer and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be Belak for Van Ryn straight up if it did happen. I'm pretty sure their would be other parts to the deal and seeing as no one's happy with Toronto's defence core, especially McCabe, Kubina, Gill and Wozniewski, I think most fans, not just Leaf fans, would want a Mike Van Ryn type player on their back end.

  28. habsrock99 says:

  29. leafy says:

Very good point.  Sundin might dilute the amount of interest in Forsberg, that is, if the Leafs are out of it by March.

  30. leafy says:

A 3rd round pick for Belak might be a bit steep, no?  Anyway, I can't see the Leafs making a deal with Jacques Martin, who absolutely hates the Leafs and refused to trade Gary Roberts to Toronto out of sheer spite.

I can't see Columbus trading away Picard, a good young player with potential, for an expensive contract in Kubina.

  31. KingCanada says:

Well Belak for a 3rd yes sounds steep but at the same time u have to factor in that Florida is getting desperate for enforcing help which drives up the offer over the targetted players worth.  When Belak broke David Koci's nose in a fight against Chicago, that definatly helped out his case.

Anyways about Colombus they can definatly afford the cap space and ca afford giving up youth.  The have tons of top notch offensive prospects like Brule, Voracek, Brassard who IMO are all better then Picard, jury is still out on Brule tho.

And lastly, business is business, we have something Florida wants regardless of Martin's hate for the leafs.  If it was the other way around (us wanting Roberts or something) u might have a point.

  32. KingCanada says:

I dont doubt Mike Van Ryn as a good player, im just saying the math just isnt there unless another variable comes into the equation like trading away some cap space (preferably some defense to give him a spot in the lineup).  I would love to have him on our team but a Belak/Van Ryn trade is so ridiculously lopsided even if u add a few parts.  It cant happen cap wize eigther.

  33. leafy says:

I hope you're right on both fronts.

  34. 68north says:

not even close sundin in a heartbeat

  35. habsrock99 says:

Depends on what you need/want. If you want leadership, Sundin's your man. If you want someone who's been to the promised land, Forsberg's your man. Skill wise, Forsberg's superior. Injury wise or lack their of, Sundin's superior. Risk wise, Sundin's your better choice because he doesn't have health issues.

  36. wayne2 says:

For the Ottawa trade proposal :

    To Ottawa: Alexander Frolov
    To LA: Martin Gerber,Josh Hennesy
I would keep Foligno if i was Bryan Murray as he`s exactly the kind of
player you want in the playoffs. He`s got his dad`s(Mike) determination.

  37. jarcpitre says:

If the Leafs make the playoffs, I think you will see Sundin play another few years. If the Leafs are out of it and Sundin gets traded, I suspect him to get a 2-3yr Deal. Imagine if Sundin and Forsberg went to Colorado.

  38. senators101 says:

Depends what you're looking for.  If you're looking for a go to guy at this point who can make space for his teamates beacause of size, Sundin is no brainer.  If you're looking for someone to play with a goalscorer and u need a playmaker, I'd say Foppa.

In my teams case (assuming we had a choice, even though obviously we dont cuz sundin wouldn't be traded here), I'd take forsberg to play with alfy.
