Speculation from Jeff Gordon
Here is some reports from St. Louis Post Dispatch writer Jeff Gordon:
The Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly wanting to sign goaltender Curtis Joseph to an $8.5 million contract. This has come into play for two reasons: CuJo’s play in the playoffs, and Leafs players, including Mats Sundin, going public on why he needs to be a Leaf next season.
If the Leafs opt not to resign Joseph, the big teams in the hunt would be the Chicago Blackhawks, LA Kings, and Philadelphia Flyers.
Also in goaltending, the New York Rangers (what a surprise to hear that team name in the off-season) are wanting a “mid-level goalie” to share duties with Dan Blackburn, since Mike Richter will most likely be in another uniform next season.
In other news, the St. Louis Blues are looking to strike a deal with the Ottawa Senators, bringing current Senators forward Daniel Alfredsson to the “Gateway To The West”, if the Senators choose not to resign the star.
There is still speculation that All-Star Teemu Selanne could return to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, to play with pal Paul Kariya.
The Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers are still planning on acquiring Adam Oates and Robert Lang for their respective teams.
That’s it from St. Louis.
