St. Louis signs Andy Wozniewski
An Illinois newspaper is reporting that the St. Louis Blues have signed UFA Andy Wozniewski.Dave Eminian of the Journal Star states that the Blues are trying to add depth to their blueline, and Wozniewski fills that need.
The former Maple Leaf now joins a St. Louis blueline that includes Jay McKee, Erik Johnson, Barret Jackman, Eric Brewer, Mike Weaver, Steve Wagner, Roman Polak, and Jeff Woywitka.
According to Blues director of pro scouting Kevin McDonald, Wozniewski brings excellent size and speed to the St. Louis defence.
Ahh, not so fast Kevin.
What McDonald doesn’t mention is that Wozniewski rarely uses his size, has trouble handling the puck when pressured, and is simply too error-prone to be a consistent reliable defender. I’m sure most Leaf fans who have watched Woz can attest to that.

Congrats St. Louis – you can have him.
I think many would have paid St. Louis (or any team really) to take him off our hands.
3 or 4 years ago, I thought he had a good chance to be a good defenceman. I loved his skating and mobility.
But over time, it became clear he was another Bob Neely. Just couldn't quite get it together.
the Blues also signed Cam Paddock, Steve Regier, Matt Foy and resign Jay McLement. what a poor team.
St.Louis has a terrible team!! They are definetly going to get Tavares..Then they will have a great future
As of 4:30pm, no other media in North America is reporting this story, except for the primary source (the Illinois newspaper).
So, in a way, I've given HTR a true exclusive story that hasn't been covered yet by any major media, including TSN, ESPN, Sportsnet, FoxSports, etc….

lol. Good stuff Leafy, as for Woz, he's brutal. But I like the Matt Foy signing, I don't think he got a fair shake in Minnesota. Could be a good third liner or maybe not, but hes worth the risk.

lol. Well, I have to admit, the Wozniewski story wasn't exactly as big as the Kennedy assasination or lunar landing. Yeah I don't think CNN would report it as "Breaking News".
The frustrating thing with Woz is that he has the elements needed to be a good defenceman: size and speed. Unfortunately he only plays well during the exhibition schedule.

Nope. The Blues luck is no better than the Leafs. Zero Stanley cups in 4 decades in the league. Woz will continue to be Woz. St.Louis should bring Jonny Pohl back to go with the rest of these signings.
Wozniewski, along with Foy and Winchester will be filling roster spots in Peoria. could possibly see some ice time in the NHL but it's not a garuntee that any of these guys will ever put on the bluenote. Now that the Blues officially own the Riverman, they have some roster spots to fill. And that's just what all these signings do.
